Are you talking about pink eye? If so I had it in fifth grade. I loved it though, because I got to stay home from school and yet it I could still enjoy it for most part. I didn't get the eye patch treatment though. I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much if I had.

I used to cry when they wanted to put drops in my eye at the optomitrist. They literally had to hold me down and pry my eye lid open. Once I got contacts I was a little weary but I hated my glasses so much. I have a -8.5 in each eye. So the glasses are very thick. I sleep in my contacts all the time and can't imagine not sleeping in them. Yea they get dry but drops in the morning and I'm set. Plus I used to be a -9.5 and -9.0 and since wearing them for months at a time my eye sight has gotten better...rather weird...

Douche, I am so the same way about eyedrops. I honestly still can't put them in myself, even though I'm supposed to every day. The best I can do is close my eye, drop the liquid in the corner, and kind of rub it in as best I can. Pathetic.

How interesting you were able to make the transition to contacts even after being so sensitive though. Did you do anything special, or did it just kind of happen?

I've never heard about "pink eye" so I don't know about that.

But sheesh, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it too if I had stayed home. I didn't even get a single day off Sad

I didn't say I never had it, I said I didn't know what the hell it was. I searched a bit about it, and it seems similar enough to what I had.

And about red eyes this time : last week a small vein popped in my eye. It's not painful, only a bit annoying because it made my eye twitch quite often,
and I didn't realize it until my mother wondered what the hell what going on. I looked in a mirror and half of my eye was almost completely red.

I was always nervous about putting something in my eye, but then when I put them in it felt like there was nothing there so I was basically just scared of the unknown. Hell I let other people touch my eye now. It doesn't bother me at all. Drops are still a bitch though. I just put the drops on my finger and rub them on my eye. Weird I know.

In Soviet Russia, glasses wear YOU!!

But on topic, I actually like wearing glasses, even if they make me look weird. I can't stand the thought of constantly having a piece of glass or plastic stuck in your eye, and glasses are cheaper than laser surgery. Sure, I have to clean my glasses every one in a while, but the effort is worth actually being able to see what I'm doing when I'm posting on the forum or getting my ass kicked in Skulltag.

Actually, they're all in high school, heh.

Getting back on track, has anyone else with glasses swapped them with a friend's to gauge each other's vision problems?

I only own a pair of reading glasses, I can see fine without them. Problem is that I'm in college and need to read a lot. Plus, 1984 happens to be in pretty small font.

Clearly the glasses add a level of sophistication.

I wear glasses actually.

I can't wear contacts. It turns into an epic battle between me and my eyelids. Ok, not epic, insomuch as my eye refuses to open. So I can't wear contacts.

Now I'm considering LASEK.

I've had glasses for since 6th grade. I hate having anything touch my eyes, so contacts are not for me. Funny thing about pinkeye, we had a wave pass through when I went to boot camp, about 50-60 guys got it in about a week. Luckily I wasn't one of them.
