Haven't finished FFVIII yet nor have I played any FF game more recent than that. I only just finished FFVII earlier this year. Damn I got behind! Also, fuck Battletoads! Battlemaniacs as well! Not that I hated them, it's just that I can't believe how insanely fucking hard the higher levels got. Ghosts and Goblins, got to the last level but never legitamatley finished it without some kind of cheat code. Super Ghouls n' Ghosts- same story. Castlevania 4, got close to the end but never finished it. Castlevania DraculaX- never got past the 4th level, fuck that game was hard! Breath of Fire 2, I'm currently in the process of trying to finish it. Phantasy Star 2- can't seem to really get into it. Blaster Master 2- loved the first one but didn't play the second one till years later and now don't have the patience to finish it. Super Mario the Lost Levels, Adventures of Lolo, Mega Man X2, Donky Kong Country 2 and 3, The Immortal, Earthworm Jim 2, although I did get to the end on the first game, and I'm sure many others I'll think of later.

I have a lot and I mean A Lot of unbeaten games, but the biggest and probably the most depressing is Xenogears for the ps1, i think i had 100+ hours into it, when, my save file became corrupt. I have yet to revisit the game.

This may be counter-intuitive to a lot of people here, but when you first play an RPG, it's a good idea to just plough through to the end the first time around without reading anything about it online or wherever. Once you've beat it, then go back later and be a completionist. You won't feel like a cheater looking things up online, it'll be easier to pick it up after an extended absence and know what you're doing, and I find it helps me remember the storyline better. Also, if you lose the save file, you won't feel as bad.

That's because Sonic Chronicles sucked.
As for me, I actually didn't finish at least half the the games I've ever played for some reason, most notably:
-FF4-7 (just picked up where I left off in the DS version of 4)
-Super Mario World 2
-MGS2
-Megaman X4 and X5 (only a matter of not having enough time)
-Landstalker
-Rainbow Six: Vegas
-Castlevania IV, Bloodlines, Legacy of Darkness, and all of the GBA games.
Yeah, I suck.

That's fine and dandy in something like Final Fantasy. But in something like Baten Kaitos or Tales Of Symphonia were they make it clear there is stuff to compusively collect, it's damn near impossible to do that. You might as well tell me, "Oh don't worry about getting 100% scans on your first play of Metroid Prime." Well, I'm going to worry. The game is set up in such a way that I can't help it.

How exactly is it set up? Will it not let you beat it without 100%? Does it make fun of you if you don't have 100%? Is it ridiculously difficult without getting everything?

Digimon World 1. I played this A LOT when I was like 12-13, but didn't really know how to train my digimon and it always turned to shit (literally).
I'm playing it again now, in part because of the nostalgia, but also because despite it being glitchy as fuck and quite repetitive, I honestly think it's a pretty fun game.

Okay, you have a thing that tells you've only found 80% of the stuff that you can find. 80%. That's a B-. If you were taking a test, and then a teacher walked by and said, "Oh, you've got a B- already, you can stop now if you want. If you want to get 100%, you can take it again later for fun. It won't be anywhere near as meaningful, but you can." If a teacher said that, would you stop at 80% completion? Would you? I don't know, maybe you would. But I'd try for the 100%. And if I didn't get it, I'd agonize over it for days thereafter.
Vald, I don't agree with you at all. A lot of people who play video games are already swimming in mediocrity. They don't try for 100% at anything besides video games, certainly not at school, and now you're telling them not to their best at video games. That is a horrible message. Try for the 100% every time. Especially the first time. And if you don't get it, you suck. Get a new hobby.

See there are some games that you want to get 100% on everything. Then there are mediocre games that you don't really give a shit if you do or not.
If a game is really good, I usually always go for the 100% the second play through, but definitely not the first time I put the game in the system. The first play through I'm just trying to enjoy the experience, not bore myself with grinding, mini-games, or star collecting. Do you really try for 100% in every game you are given the opportunity to do so, even the shitty or mediocre games?

I disagree; I'm old (2 and I have a kid, so I try to get as much stuff completed as possible on the first run because, in all reality, I probably won't get a chance to play it again for quite some time. I don't think I'd get to invest my time in something as involved as a Final Fantasy, but Paper Marios are perfect. Sad as it is to say, but I have all my gaming systems waiting in a cabinet...maybe in about 20 years I'll get to really enjoy them again.

I can't blame you for not beating MGS2. In all honesty it was the weakest of the series, and it made absolutely NO SENSE!

I think I'm the only person in this world who liked MGS2. I still consider it my favorite in terms of gameplay and (gasp!) story. Convoluted as shit, but I liked most of the messages.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: I played it a lot but never bothered playing past the mission where you stop the planet from getting hit by an asteroid or something like that.
Paper Mario: It was just too slow paced and the final Bowser fight was a bitch.
Ocarina of Time: No idea why I stopped playing this.
Final Fantasy IV DS: I've owned this for over a year and I still haven't played it!

same here!
the "Everything is done with the touch screen" thing took a little getting used to, but it made getting a perfect on a special attack in combat feel that much more gratifying.

I have quite a few as my gaming skills are somewhere between shit and projectile vomit.
NES:
-Zelda 2 (at some point, when you cant find your way through a castle, you just have to say fuck it)
-Mega Man 7 (enough is enough, Capcom)
SNES:
-Super Metroid (great game, just huge as fuck and I think I got sidetracked by my purchase of Illusion of Gaia)
-Secret of Evermore (I had expended all my energy on Secret of Mana at that point)
N64:
-Goldeneye (just kind of got old to me after awhile)
-Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie: (Like Syd said, too big, too much backtracking and too many bullshit items)
-Majora's Mask: (An overrated game in my opinion and just lost my interest in it after awhile)
Gamecube:
-Luigi's Mansion (going from room to room and vaccuming ghosts got old)
-Mario Sunshine (just didnt compel me to finish it and keep me interested like Mario 64)
PSP:
-Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins (got all the way to the door that leads to the last boss and didnt realize that you had to collect golden rings throughout the game in order to open the door. So, i literally had to start at the first and work my way back. Fuck that and fuck you, Capcom.)
PS2:
-Kingdom Hearts (one of the best games I have ever played just waiting on a free day that I can devote 10+ hours to it. Will beat it one day soon.
-God of War 2 (same as above)
360:
-Ninja Gaiden 2 (hard ass bosses, but damn that is a good game. I just get so frustrated with the bosses that I quit, but I always pick it up from time to time, so I will probably finish it at some point)
-Fable 1 & 2 (both games are just so fucking huge. i love them, but the scope overwhelmed me honestly.)
This is my first post. This thread was too good to ignore.

Number One: Mega Man 7 is an SNES game.
Number Two: I never for an instant feel that way about the franchise.

Welcome to the forums!
A few games I forget when I started this thread:
NES
The Simpsons: Bart VS The Space Mutants - I just got tired of it. Boring.
Street Fighter 2010 - Stupid fucking game, but for some reason I rented it a bunch.
Robocop - I suck at platformers, especially shitty ones.
SNES
Mechwarrior - I beat this on the PC, why couldn't I do it on SNES?!! ARGH!
Star Trek - Futures Past - I rented this a lot too, but never beat it. Why did no one play this game, it's awesome!
PC
D-Generation - Bought it on floppy disks way before CD-ROM was popular. Really hard but fun EGA game.

You are right, my bad it was part 6 that I got tired of. I LOOOOVED the first three, I guess I just got burned out for one reason or another.
