Honestly, I think Nintendo should go back to cartridges for their next console. In fact, if you remember the PC-Engine/Turbografx-16, the Hu-Cards were considerably smaller than the SNES or Sega Genesis cartridges, yet their performance were comparable. What if Nintendo did something like that? Their cartridges would be barely any larger than an SD Card, yet it could have the capabilities of a PS3 disc. |
and its not as if the Wii can play DVD's anyway. |
True, the Wii couldn't play DVDs. Hell, it couldn't even play regular CDs. |
Mine can

Back in the days with the snes you had little to worry about with your game
1.plug shit in (this includes the cart)
2 turn on and play
Now days....
1.plug stuff in
2if you have an hd tv make sure your system is setup for it
3. Make sure your batteries are full. (I hate wireless)
4. Wash cd because it has to many finger prints/scratches
5. Set up sound quality shit
6. Make sure no deposits were left on washed disc
7. Make sure your 60 gig hard drive has enough space to start a new game
8. Finally play
9. Remember that you forgot to plug in your cat5 cable into your system or remember that your system isn't set up for your wireless network
10. Play your shitty top 50 hip-hop shit because there's no point in listening to the music that people made for the game
Off topic but I hate when people bitch that there 60gig hard drive doesn't have enough space

Hacker, you basically just repeated what Syd said.
I like PC gaming because 1) my PC's always on with the exception of power outages, 2) the games are usually better than consoles, 3) you can download mods for the games, 4) you can download free games, 5) the PC is the original multimedia center and can also be used to communicate with people online as well as for school and office.

I don't care about the gimmicks. There is only one complaint I have with new systems, I don't like the forced firmware updates. I always bought modded systems in the past so I could play import games, but now a forced firmware update will turn a modded system into a paperweight. I was really hoping that was a trend that was dying since the recent handhelds are region free.

I'll bitch about my 150gig hard drive then. That stuff is always full. I install too much shit.
I really don't care about waiting for the games to load, probably because this is what happened most of the time with my NES :
- Turn on the NES. Get a bunch of weird lines on the TV.
- Press reset. Same result.
- Blow into the cartridge for about 10 seconds.
- Push the cartridge down and turn NES on. Green screen.
- Push on the cartridge, but instead of taking it out, leave it there. Turn on NES. The game starts, but it glitches completely. There are squares everywhere and half the screen is orange.
- Blow into cartridge again.
- Try again to make the game work, and get one of these results :
1- The game somehow runs at 4x speed
2- The game resets every second
3- The game runs fine for about 5 seconds, then freezes
4- The screen scrolls up and down all the time
- If you get number 4, slap your TV. If nothing happens, reset the NES. If something happens (speed of scrolling changes), continue slapping TV until the screen is stabilized.
- Take note that the cartridge works more often when not pushed down so starting the game next time takes less than 30 minutes.
That's what happens when you try to play with a hacked cartridge on an old NES hooked on a TV over 30 years old.

And blowing into it usually worked, that's why we did it.

With cartridge games the habit's hard wired into me. I've tried my cartridges without blowing into them and they didn't work in that manner. Q-tips can get expensive if you use them for cleaning game cartridges. Biological dust cleaner ftw.

Just buy the cheap ones from the dollar store for cleaning stuff then.
And any way they come 500 to a box so unless you have some really dirty games your only gonna need one Q-tip pergame.

It's called putting the game under your shirt and blowing into it. 95% of the time it works everytime.

Yea, it's really weird now that I think about it. We all just sort of knew that blowing into the cartridge would fix it.

Blowing into the cartridges became a game in itself. It was half the fun. After waiting and waiting and finally getting it to work, that was like the first level, that was a real victory. And for most of us it was the most excercise we would get that day.
I remember I bought a pretty rough used copy of Megaman from my local gamestore and it took a good 15 minutes before I was about to play and I think that was better than looking at loading screens.

not really. blowing is great for getting dust out. canned air is preferred, but careful blowing is really not that bad. when you get some idiot that doesn't know how to not drool while going to town on it, it's a problem.
that sounded unintentionally gay.
