Besides the above image stretching out my screen a great deal too much, looks real nifty. The pixel appeal is present, but I'm hoping that they will avoid going original dragon quest on me too, cause there are just some mechanics that did not age well.

Do people actually recognize it by that name? I mean... I grew up with Dragon Warrior. That was the name on all of the NES cartridges and Nintendo Powers.

I recognize both Dragon quest and Dragon Warrior only because I bought Dragon Warrior and Dragon Quest VIII the same day.

I prefer to call it Dragon Warrior, but at this point, there have been way more games released in America under the DQ name than the DW name. Insisting on calling it "Dragon Warrior" is like insisting that Final Fantasy VI should be called "Final Fantasy III"; you're being stubborn, and your position is wrong and indefensible.

Rereleases of FFII and FFIII have been issued as FFIV and FFVI.
As far as I know, and I might be wrong, Dragon Warrior I-IV have never been released in the US as anything other than Dragon Warrior I-IV.

Actually, DW4 either has been or will be (haven't checked) re-released on the DS as Dragon Quest IV: Chapters Of The Chosen.

It's been out almost a year in the US. Dragon Quest V was released in February, and Dragon Quest VI is on the way. Still no US release date for Dragon Quest IX. I'm starting to think we might not get it. That would be ironic, since Square Enix said that DQ9 was specifically designed to increase the worldwide appeal of the franchise. As we all know, the franchise is RIDICULOUSLY popular in Japan. DQ9 was more highly anticipated there than FFXIII, and it was the tenth game ever to receive a perfect score from Famitsu magazine. The previous nine were:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, Nintendo, Nintendo 64)
Soulcalibur (1999, Namco, Dreamcast)
Vagrant Story (2000, Square, PSX)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003, Nintendo, GameCube)
Nintendogs (2005, Nintendo, Nintendo DS)
Final Fantasy XII (2006, Square Enix, PS2)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008, Nintendo, Wii)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008, Konami, PS2)
428: Fūsasareta Shibuya de (2008, Sega, Wii)

The team that made this also made Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! for the PSP and PSN, and the publisher is From Software
