Production companies Single Cell (co-owned by R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe) and Playtone (Tom Hanks' company) have announced plans to make a movie showcasing Manilow's hits and even featuring a cameo from Baz himself. There are no plot details yet, but things that are guaranteed to feature are characters called Mandy and Julie, a bar called Coco's, a random Italian who teaches everyone to mambo, and someone who just can't smile when Mandy or Julie isn't around.
