I'm having a hard time deciding which system to get. Call of Duty is a game I am interested in and most of my friends who have it, have a Xbox 360. Then the PS3 has Blueray and a few games I am interested in(The Last Gaurdian). Now that the PS3 slim is out it is in my price range. Anyone have any opinions on what to get? I already have a Wii.

there are like seventy five threads already on this board that basically have copypasta of the great console war/red ring of death debate/whether or not the wii is an actual game system or a machien to make delicious flatbread sandwiches. I'd suggest reading through them.
I'd say though, the 360 is a good choice IMO. I won't bother posting my reasons again though, as I've done it a multitude of times already.

like FNJ said, there are a million threads on this already. in fact, the first one on this page talks about this same exact thing.

I would go ahead and get the Xstation 360 3
But seriously if $$$ is a factor go with the PS3, you don't need a wireless adapter ($100) or membership($50-$100 per year), plus you get blu-ray...

As FNJ said, this has been done to death on the forums. I'm going to back the 360, but I don't feel like giving my reasoning as why for the millionth time.

You really need to ask yourself a few q's:
Do you plan on watching movies on your console and is blu-ray an attractive feature?
If your friends play online, which console do most of them have?
Though the difference isn't huge, are there certain exclusives for one or the other that you just HAVE to have?
Can you afford an online subscription plus wireless adapter, or get a line from your router to the xbox 360?
Xbox 360 is widely considered the better online experience ( IDK why ).
Do you like one controller better than the other?
Sitting on the shelf at the store, I like the PS3 better, but I had one of these two for a while and chose the 360 simply because the majority of my friends also had it. Answer these and your answer should be a little clearer.

Not all 360 games require a paid Live subscription to be played online.

Each have their own perks.
The 360 has a lot of FPS games. It's online is fantastic and for 60 bucks is totally worth it if you will spend a lot of time playing. It has many first party titles but you won't find much in the variety department, most is standard shooter fare with a couple multi-platform titles mixed in.
The PS3 has few first party titles, but most of those titles are good. The online is free but you get what you pay for and it can run horribly sometimes. A lot of the titles that were originally planned for it are going multi-platform though.
My conclusion: Don't listen to me, I am neutral and feel they both have their perks, most notably the 360's online and the PS3's great (but small) line up of first party titles.

mostly just downloadable PSN games. Echocrome is fun if you like puzzle games. Fat Princess is fun if you like RTS type games. obviously, MvC2. SF4 if you havent picked it up yet. any of the CoD games if you like FPS. and download NOBY NOBY BOY, that game is fucking weird.

Definitely getting MVC2. Is the first Uncharted worth getting or should I just wait for the sequel at this point?

Definitely get a 360. Sony's new ad slogan, "It only does... EVERYTHING!", is arrogant, vapid, and insidious. It reminded me why I've never bothered to own a Sony console in my life.

It seems we're always looking to next year with the PS3. "PS3 is gonna pull ahead in 2007 (2008, 2009, 2010)."
It hasn't happened yet. And for all the talk of how "superior" the PS3's graphical capabilities are supposed to be, they look pretty much identical to my eyes (half the time the 360 looks better, IMO).
Blu-Ray is nice, but the movies are still overpriced.
I've got an Xbox360, and if I had it to do over again, I'd repurchase the 360. I'll hold off on the PS3 until next year, when it's supposed to pull ahead agian.

for those still undecided, another reason to stay undecided is this: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3176024
apparently, the Wii will get a $50 discount in October, dropping the console price to $199. so, it'll be the cheapest current gen console again. besides the PS2, but thats considered last gen, technically

Well, the Wii is almost last generation in terms of it's power anyway, so that's why it's cheaper. Also, I own a Wii, and I can't stand the stupid gimmicky motion controls anymore. They make games much more difficult and frustrating to play and always feel tacked on. Plus wireless controllers piss me off in general, so it's just not very much fun to me.
I'm definitely buying a PS3 as soon as I move back to the states simply because it's more reliable than the 360, and I don't really care when it "pulls ahead" or whatever. I'm also not a fan of spending extra just to play online with a bunch of kids swearing into their headsets. What I do care about is my expensive console continuing to work after 6 months without me constantly worrying about a red ring appearing at any moment.

The only problem I ever had with my PS3 was it had a problem getting updates for games. Usually when you put it a new game or download one from the PS store, there has to be a update installed. I told a friend about it and they told me to go to the System settings and disable the media server, and I have not had that problem since.

i hate how the PS3 downloads require a separate install. you download then install. thats annoying. the 360 downloads and installs at the same time, in the background no less. the ps3 only downloads in the background, but you need to install separately, and you cant do other things while it installs, as far as i know. that might have changed but i dont own a ps3 so i could be wrong

no. it's stil like that. very frustrating. I remember buying TNA impact, and before I could even paly the game, as soon as the disc booted, it began a forty minute installation process.
why can the ps2 version play instantly, yet the ps3 one requires installation?

supposedly to cut back on load times. but when its a demo, or a small PSN game, its just fucking annoying

TNA impact STILL had incredulous load times! I couldn't make a CAW because it took forever to go through parts with the stopping to load and whatnot. It was worse than Smackdown 2 on PSX.

I'm very tempted to make a new "PS3 vs 360" thread but I guess I'll just post all my questions/comments here for now. If the mods want to split it that's fine.
PS3 Slim vs 360 Elite, which one do I buy?
I don't care about Blu-Ray, Netflix, or any of the other bonuses that come with these comsoles. My TV sucks dick so I don't care about graphics. Everything I've read makes the PS3 Slim seem like a better option than the Elite at this point. So basically I what I want to know is if I'm mainly focusing on playing games on either console, which one is the better choice? Do they both have most of the same games on them? are PS3 games more expensive? Tell me what you know.
