So I was thinking of switching to PS3.

There are several good looking 360 games coming out very soon. ODST, Left 4 Dead 2, Bioshock 2.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'll just stick to my 360 as it's been doing alright all these years anyway, no signs of RRoD or disc mutilation. So yeah.

Unfortunately you don't get "signs" for the RROD, it just happens when you least expect it and it makes you want to cry.

If you have your 360 online with a membership then you might as well stick that out. But if someone is trying to choose between purchasing one or the other, I would recommend PS3.

I'm thinking of going next-gen eventually however I'd like to wait a little longer. I'd like to see what kind of games they have in store on all of the separate systems then make a decision based upon which system has my favorite titles. I kind of wanted a 360 however the few I've played seem to have so many ways to screw up. My brother's 360 randomly decided to create a radial scar on one of his games and I've been told that their is no way to fix the 360 so that it does otherwise.

The PS3 and Wii both look rather lacking when it comes to games that interest me however I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the slimmest chance for a Steambot Chronicles 2 on the PS3. All-in-all unless it seems as if my interest in games are dwindling. If games keep going in the direction they are going I might just stick to my DS, it seems like the only system that satisfies my taste in games.

Bioshock 2 is not 360 exclusive.

Although I own two consoles, I don't see a point in owning more than one. I play 1-2 new games a month, so a console only needs about 16 decent releases a year to satisfy me. And with downloadable games available too, it's not that hard to find enough games to satisfy me.

To address a few concerns:

I went with PS3 over Xbox 360 for a few reasons, and there's more in perspective after the fact that I love about it.

One-- I still have my PS2, so backwards compatability is almost a moot point. However, I've suddenly turned into a collector (I'll post pics sometimes... ranging from NES to PS3, I have a metaphorical asston of games) and I've found that it was actually easier to play PS1 games on a PS3 than to attempt to find a new PS1.

Two-- Downloadable content. If you have a Wii or 360, things like Mega Man 9 aren't exclusive. However, if you like classics, go for it. Last I checked, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Street Fighter Alpha, etc, etc, etc, are marketed on PSN.

Three-- should you pick up a PSP as well as someone else suggested, you can also put the aforementioned games onto it. You don't need a PS3 to do it, really, but this will allow you to not only play it portably but on a big screen as well.

Four-- Blu Ray drive. True, blu rays are still on the pricey side, but it also upconverts DVDs. If you have a hi- def TV, this DOES make a difference. It does on mine.

Five-- blu rays themselves are a bit pricey... unless you know where to look. It's pretty much common knowledge that I work at Blockbuster, so I can tell you firsthand that Blockbuster does used DVD sales 3 for $20 or 4 for $20. I think it's now a nationwide standard that used blu rays come 2 for $25. While I figured it had to be a badass movie to get it in blu ray new, the fact that I can get two movies for the price of less than one on blu ray was a definite plus.

Six-- Although I may be accused of being a Sony fanboy, I gave an Xbox a chance. I didn't really care for it.

Seven-- no Red Ring Of Death. I work with a guy who, quite literally, had been through FIVE Xbox 360s. ALL FIVE OF THEM red ringed on him.

Eight-- free online. I'm sorry, but I already pay for an internet connection. I shouldn't have to further pay to get online, then pay more to play with a bunch of racist, foulmouthed ten year olds. I can play with racist, foulmouthed ten year olds for free on PSN.

Nine-- Some PS3 exclusives are definitely worth it. I've gotten many more times my money's worth on Little Big Planet alone.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

I have always loved PlayStation, got one the first year they came out. I picked up the PS2 while I was stationed in Japan before it even came out over here. When the PS3 dropped though, I had to pull back the rains a bit. 600 dollars for something that, in my opinion, didn't separate itself from the PS2 as much as the PS2 did the original PlayStation.

So not looking to spend that much I bought an XBOX 360. It was ok, but I guess I bought the wrong games because it never really took with me. The game I played the most on it was an old Playstation game that I downloaded of XBOX Live (Castlevania SOTN). Other than that I hardly touched the thing. I could never use it to watch DVDs because that sound of a riding lawnmower in your living room tends to drown out the dialog from Terminator 2. I eventually gave my $400 paperweight to my nephews, hoping maybe they could get my moneys worth out of it, that was over a year ago.

So after a break from next gen. gaming I'm prepared to dive back in with the PS3, the 299 price tag is where it should be for me. I want Blu-ray, I know the prices are crazy, but I use NetFlix. I'm also doing it with the hope that I will see a decent Final Fantasy released on it as well as a Kingdom Hearts game. So my choice is the PS3.

Well, I was only counting current gen.

I have an NES, an Odyssey-2, a Dreamcast, and a Gamecube as well. I've been thinking about picking up a PS2 lately as well.

And Ash, I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy is no longer PS exclusive.

Yea, but FFXIII is going to be optimized for PS3.

Get a PS3 for $199 if you dare...

I say that because you have to open a line of credit with Sony to accomplish this. Still, if you are willing to take that risk, then by all means, this is not a scam and has been all over the news

That's completely meaningless. Unless the PS3 version has extra content, who cares what system it's optimized for? Either the game is good, or it's pile of shit.
