Ugh, are you one of these people who defend telemarketers too with that same, retarded logic?

A stupid corporate policy that harasses it's customers just to fill a quota is stupid, and as an employee, you have the right to not carry it out. If you get fired, move on to something else that's less soul consuming. There are certain jobs that are bullshit jobs and deserve to be looked down on.

Do you defend thieves and conmen as well? They only steal to put food on their table too.

It's harder to get a job in this economy, choosing not to carry out what they ask, getting fired and moving on is not an option for some people.

Well, in fairness I don't think you can TRULY blame the workers unless they're actively rude on a personal level. If they're just trying to hawk their company's shit, as long as they aren't rude about it or too pushy, I can't blame them. People need to work, and once you take a job you don't get to just say "no, I won't do that" unless what they're asking you to do is morally wrong or something.

I personally abide by the "don't shoot the messenger" rule, and am always polite even to telemarketers. I just tell them very nicely, "no thank you, and please take me off your list." Then I hang up. *shrug* Same with GameStop employees or whatever, its just that all the ones I have dealt with are in the othe category--rude, pushy jerks who act like I don't know a PS from an XBox. Assholes.

you know what usually helps? "no thank you. I'm not interested in preordering madden today."

it's not like they chase you around the store screaming "BUY MADDEN BUY MADDEN BUY MADDEN" or something.

all they do is ask you if you'd like to preorder, then if you say no, they tell you a few of the benefits of preordering, in case you didn't know. ninety percent of people that are offered things like credit cards or preorders turn them down without knowing anything about them. trust me, I've done marketing. you can still say no and then they stop. it's not like they constantly press you like a used car salesman.

Today, I walked into a Best Buy, bought an Xbox 360 elite, and left. No membership cards, no reservations. He offered me a fair product protection plan, which I bought. The teller was a friendly, clean-looking guy who basically said, "I just bought one of these and really enjoyed it." I didn't get asked if I wanted a used, refurbished console, no awkward nerds trying to upsell and get me to join a club, no fat-ass parents with loud kids giving me the stink-eye for doing this "kid stuff,", no walking away with stupid merchandise. The product was easily visible on the shelves, and the environment was calm and welcoming, instead of a cramped mess of used shit and grotesque posters and cardboard cutouts. Unless I want older games (or my copy of Brutal Legend I pre-ordered which probably won't be there), I'm never going back to Gamestop.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
