Bomberman's whole racial guilt campaign in the character battle got me to thinking: what is the most racist thing someone has ever said to you (not necessarily about you) that was NOT a joke. We've all heard the "I love black people, I think everyone should own one" joke so no need for that. I'm just curious what sort of ignorance is still out there in the world. As for mine, the very first thing that the very first person I told I was dating a black girl said to me was "Why don't you just fuck a gorilla?". In that girl's defense, she's Asian so everyone else must look to be the size of a gorilla to her. 
Oh, and if you've never heard someone say any of it in person, just recite your favorite racist quote from the Borat movie since those people were all business.

While I assume that's meant as a joke, the rules do say racial slurs won't be tolerated. Obviously for the purposes of recanting stories that would have to be bended, but I'd appreciate not using slurs any more than necessary...which is a very awkward phrase to type...

Yeah, I'm sure it won't take too long before it needs to get locked, but Bomberman's campaign reminded me of when I was told that and so it made me curious of the things other people have heard.

Well using the words has to be an option for story telling purposes as I said. I don't think you really need carte blanche to casually rattle of every slur you know, particularly when directed at people.

I have never had any racial moments directed at me, but as a child I was always embarrassed by my grandfather. (He's still alive and 86 years old, now.) He grew up on a farm in the 20's and 30's so he grew up using the term "Nigger" and has always used it. He is not racist, he doesn't blame crime on black people or any of the other common racist remarks, he just uses the word "Nigger" whenever talking about anyone who is black or of mixed decent. Even in public. Needless to say our family was horribly embarressed many a time by my grandfather's terminology.

One time an African friend of mine was joking that I was his bitch while a bunch of us were in the cafeteria. When asked if I was going to stand for it, I said "It's ok, me and Mike go way back," then we did a handshake before I continued, "My grandparents used to own his."

My dad does the same thing, and he's only 50 years old... he grew up deep deep in the country. He knows it's socially wrong, but he thinks it's funny to embarrass me!

Normally, my school has foreign exchange students that stay for a week.
French students (their in the main hallway of my school when they arrive and before they leave.) came this week.
One of them said in English "Look, niggers! There's niggers all over the place. You see the niggers?"
I stared at her with a mug, and then one of my teachers pulled her back and, well, I didn't hear it, but I'm sure my teacher explained to her that if she said that around us like that, she would probably get an "Welcome to America" beating by the black girls.
She never said it again.

This isn't really racism per se, I did have a customer one day ask where I was, and when I told him I was in Canada, he demanded an American.
I told him I couldn't transfer him to any specific, so he said "I don't believe in Canada"...
I proceed to tell him that he should look at a map of North America, because regardless of his beliefs, Canda is right above the US!
He hung up on me.
