With the PS3 Slim coming out and my 360 currently having no games, I figured around now would be a decent time to switch, if I wanted to. The main reasons are free online play, more reliable hardware, etc. One thing I wanted to know is if it could play music from the hard drive while in-game, since the 360 can do that and I always enjoyed it.
I also wouldn't mind some opinions on the subject, if I should just stay where I am or make the switch, if it's any help my 360 has been working since I first got it back in late 2006.

As I have said in other threads, I have no current gen console outside of my Wii. The price drop and slim model was the help I needed to move on up.
I hope to get a PS3 slim sometime before September is out.

I also don't have either the 360 or ps3....but with blu-ray, 120gb, free online, less faulty, smaller footprint, built-in wireless.....I think you get the idea.

I'd say go for it. Pick up a PSP while you're at it.

Unless you're really itching for Blu-Ray, I'd say forget it.
Most of the stuff that comes out on PS3 also comes out on the 360, and very few of the PS3 exclusives seem interesting.

Hate me all you want for saying it, but the PS3 also has a web browser. While I know that Syd could give a shit, others may find that useful.

If all you want is something that has wireless internet, a browser,a hard drive, and a bluray player then get a laptop. If you don't like the games on xbox360 then you basically know you won't like the ps3 games.

I'd say go for it. I play the PSN games a lot inbetween titles. They are a lot of fun and are actually updated from time to time. Depending on the game if it allows custom soundtracks you can use music on the HardDrive. I also like the free online play built in wireless the controller feels better to me and the PSN exclusives. Once GoW III comes out I have a feeling PS3 is going to finally make its mark on the market.

Just don't get rid of your 360, especially if you have a large amount of cash invested in games. You won't get anywhere near what you payed for if you sell them off.

Average starting price for a Blu-Ray Laptop begins over $1,000.
The starting price for a Blu-Ray internal drive is $140. To get the surround sound audio you must also get a sound card that can produce it, so at a minimum another $40. That brings the total to $180 without even considering you need to have the rest of the desktop components.
I get it, I am in the minority for liking the Blu-Ray and Internet access on a console. I'm not going to apologize for having a different agenda than others, it seems to be the way my life works.

I like it too, I'm not asking you to apologize my point is that is that he owns an Xbox360 and isn't impressed with the games on it then he shouldn't jump to ps3 based on those things. If you really like the library of ps3 exclusives or didn't already have a 360 then the extra features of the ps3 would definitely make the decision easier.
I'll admit that if the ps3 was a cheap a year ago as it is now I wouldn't have purchased a 360.

If I wanted a Blu-Ray player, I'd get a PS3. But Blu-Ray is a fucking rip-off right now. When new BR titles don't cost $30, maybe I'll get on board. Until then, meh.

it's the worst web browser ever IMO. I purposely leave the PS3 hooked up to the downstairs TV so I have a bluray player and web browser on the big screen, but even with a keyboard I often find myself just running upstairs to my computer when I feel like checking something.

I'm satisfied with my PS3. What I like the most is that you can download a lot of PS 1 classics from the Playstation Network, like FFVII, Tekken 2, ect. I have a couple of exclusives, that Watchman game. and Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'll just stick to my 360 as it's been doing alright all these years anyway, no signs of RRoD or disc mutilation. So yeah.

You know, I don't want to seem like a jerk, but anyone with this opinion towards either console, is a fucking idiot.
There are a multitude of terrific games on the PS3 and the 360 that are worthy enough to buy both consoles over. The fantastic Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4, Demons Souls is out soon, Disgaea 3, Heavenly sword, though pretty short, is also fantastic.
If Ninja Gaiden Sigma II is even close to being as good as the first Sigma, it's also a must buy.

There's not a real reason to switch over to PS3 unless you want a bluray player. A 360 is just fine as it is.
For me, getting a PS3 is a matter of having a few exclusives I want and not wanting the others.
