Yeah, it looks like a PS2 controller.

I almost voted for the 7th generation since so many games from the 3rd - 6th are playable on the 7th's hardware.
This didn't seem to be in the spirit of the conversation though, so I went with 4th and supported the Genesis and SNES.

As big of a softspot as I have for the NES, I've gotta go with the 6th generation also. *possibly unpopular opinion coming up...*
The 6th generation had the best console ever (PS2), the most underappreciated console ever (Gamecube) and Microsoft's debut into the console market. When thinking of some of the best games I've played, one hell of a lot of PS2 titles come up. We may not realize it now, but I think that generation will be looked back on years from now as one of the most groundbreaking.

| now that i think about it, this current generation lets you download all those old games, so its like having all generations in one |
But is it as good as using the original controllers? I say not!
I love Mega Man X, but I can't stand playing that on a SNES emulator. I'm too biased in favor of the SNES controller, I guess. |
i can respect that opinion. its fucking hard to play smash bros w/the classic controller. so i understand what you mean.
anyone seen the new japanese classic controller? http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3175389 |
That controller is badass! Would I have any compatibility problems using it if I bought it on ebay or something?

I don't give a shit about hyper-realistic/stylized graphics in a game. I'm always gonna stand in the era of the SNES, Genesis, and Doom and its various clones. Especially Heretic. It's the generation I grew up in, and I'm sticking with it. Now, excuse me while I download some Doom mods and SNES roms.

You forgot the dreamcast from that line-up. But yeah, 6th is a real winner here.

With me it's caught in 3 corners between 4, 5, and 6. If I had to pick, I pick 4 for REAL games.
