Brawl is way more balanced than melee, as jew said, Marth and Fox (and to an extent Falco and Shiek) could own everyone else on the roster hands down. In Brawl, a more wide variety of characters can hold their own against one another for sure. I could own a ton of people (Metaknight, Ike and Dedede included) with chrarcters like PKMN trainer, Donkey Kong and Mario.

I have played both games to smithereens, I assure you, Brawl is more balanced than Melee.

I actually enjoy pokemon trainer quite a bit. I'm kinda decent with gannondorf as well.

I mostly play Ivysaur and Squirtle, but my Charizard is getting better. Donkey Kong is actually a monster in this game. Bowser also got a significant improvement. I kinda feel like playing now.

i've been trying to use all three pokemon equally, but squirtle is mah special buddy, with cahrzard pulling up the rear. I had a tough time doign anything productive with ivysaur until like right before I stopped playing.

Once I got the timing down and got a little clever with his attacks, Ivysaur became my favorite of the three (used to be Squirtle, he is definitely the shit).

His recovery is sick, and his air (and anti-air) game is very good. Razor Leaf is also awesome for spacing and quickly taking your opponent their feet.

yeah I kidna got the hang of that before I stopped playing, but it was never as enjoyable as flipping out and flying all over the place fuckign shit up with squirtle, or smacking people insanely hard with charzard.

I mostly used squirtly to throw the fight into disarray, then when people finally got on top of him, I'd use charzard to lay down a few heavy KOs, then switch back.

i use whoever pops out. i dont think i ever switch manually between the pokemon, unless im down to my last guy. but, squirtle is my best guy, the ivysaur, then charizard, but charizard does do a ton of damage

I was studying good times to switch when I was still playing, because I had read that there are some times where taking advantage of the invincibility that it gives you can be beneficial. also, I've noticed that good switching throws off everyone else's pace in the match.

Hmm, this sounds pretty cool. Question though, what is tripping? I'm not a huge SSB nerd, I just like playing for fun.

Every so often, when you run with your character they will fall flat on their face...I've never found it to be that big of a deal. It's really stupid to to have in the game, but I've never had it effect the outcome of a match and I've played a lot of it multi-player with some buddies, and they've never noticed it to be a big problem either.

Tripping's just a minor annoyance for me and none of my friends back in the day tried to take advantage of it if they even could, since it only made you vulnerable for a split second.

tripping is annoying, but its not detrimental towards the gameplay itself, imho

all it really does is stop people from spamming dash with fox and cap falcon. it's not like it happens all the time.

Apparently there are no switchs. The patch implements all the changes, unless you manually modify it yourself. My friend modified his version so that Meowth's Payday attack throws exploding crates. It's hilarious.

The level changes REALLY piss me off. There's already a fucking level called Final Destination. There's no reason to turn Spear Pillar, Pokemon Stadium, Luigi's Mansion, and Wario Ware into fucking FD Lite.

I agree syd. super smash brothers is a game that is fun BECAUSE of all those weird levels and obstacles. it's also supposed to be a four player party game. I think trying to make it a one on one game with equal footing and no randomness kinda defeats the purpose.

This isn't really aimed at anyone in this thread, but here goes...

The Smash Bros. games are party games first, and fighting games a distant second. They're SUPPOSED to have outlandish level designs, unbalanced items and hazards galore. The fact that somebody went through all this effort to "fix" the game and make the characters balanced and changed the FUN levels to look like Final Destination is extremely sad. The ironic thing, is that I've found that the more "hardcore" the Smash Bros, player, the less they actually UNDERSTAND the concept of the game. It's the casuals that truly GET these games, and I'd gladly have 4 player matches on 100m and Pirate Ship than play against a tourney tard. To quote Brawl Taunts, "tiers are for queers".

I will agree that tripping sucks balls, though.

I do not play Brawl competitively, nor do I have any interest to. I could go to a Melee tournament at 3 PM EST, but I am not. Why? Because it's 1 on 1, items off, Final Destination only. I think my main excitement for Brawl Plus comes from two things:

1. The return of aerial combat
2. Increased pace

Brawl feels really sluggish compared to Melee, and the reduced pace makes the game less fun. If the game is supposed to be chaotic, why slow it down? Also, most of the characters play completely differently because of the gameplay changes. I used to have a lot of fun with Sheik and Jigglypuff, but now they're damn near unplayable.
