So, aside from The After Years I don't have any idea what else should I play. Throw me some suggestions... Preferably something I can get on the Virtual Console.
I don't have any preferences when it comes to RPGs... If it has a good story, I will play the shit out of it.
So, throw 'em at me.

Phantasy Star II is the best RPG what there ever was, but you kinda had to be there when it was new. And the story bits are sparse at best, so it might not be what you're looking for.
No idea what's on VC.

Hmm... Those are good suggestions. I am kinda far in both SMRPG and Paper Mario, but I might get back into them. Thanks, Haddox and Ba'al.

I started the original Final Fantasy on the NES about a week ago out of boredom and the fact that I never had actually beat it...I have to say, I'm having a lot more fun with it than I expected, so if you haven't beat that before I say go for that one.

Beat that on every platform it was released for, except for the i-Mode version.
What can I say, I am a weird person.

Earthbound, US final fantasy 2 and 3. Chrono Trigger, Breath of fire 1 and 2. Lunar and Lunar silver star story. I haven't played them but i hear, the lufia series is allright, Vandal Hearts (ps1), the persona series is good, Skies of Arcadia is amazing. That's all I can think of off the top of my head as far as traditional rpgs.

Excellent choice.
Also, I dunno if its on VC, but you can easily get it via other means--Chrono Trigger. To this date, might be my favorite RPG of all time, and the music is fantastic. So is the art.

Every single one of the Mother games, but if you're set on getting a VC game, try Breath of Fire 2.

Any of the Fallout games. You can get the first two, Vista/XP-ready, and DRM-free for $6 each at Good old games:

You know, I bought a DS for it, and I played through it twice, but honestly, fuck Square Enix. There was no reason for them to "remake " that shit for the Ds for them to make more money. Chrono Trigger was everybody's game, not just there's so they should have manned up and put it on the virtual Console like honest human beings instead of these greedy capitalist scumbags.

^ I'll agree with you on this in general principle. It never affected me because I have neither a DS nor a Wii; I played it on the original SNES, and now I play it via other completely legal means that would in no way warrant anyone reading this looking into my online downloading habits in any way whatsoever. Still, releasing it that way with virtually no extras is pretty douchebaggy. Worse is the fact that, if ever there was a 16-bit game made for a LARGE screen, and not a tiny little DS, its Chrono Trigger. The artwork and animation in that game is just stunning, and the bigger its played, the better.

I picked up a copy of that for two bucks at the pawn shop. I should give it a whirl.

The DS remake was necessary. You fuckheads never bothered to release Chrono Trigger over here.
Oh well, at least we got Terranigma while you got nothing.

Yep, it was the very first time the game was released in Europe. I'd say it was a good decision. Now give us Super Mario RPG, Enix!
