Dan Deacon is a musician and so is Liam Lynch. Aside from that he is also a director and producer. It was a joke, and is a joke but I do not doubt that, that is what happened for the making of this video.

Liam Lynch is a comedian. The fact that he uses song to convey his comedian does not make him any less of a comedian. Also, his first major project was the puppet show Sifl & Olly on MTV, starring him as Olly and Matt Crocco as Sifl. They sang on that too, but the show also featured regular skits.
