Anyone catch the trailer? I just downloaded the "Sea of Dreams" trailer on the 360 and I have a good feeling about it; creepy as hell though. Any thoughts/expectations?

Of course this game is going to be unbelievable. The first one was and this one looks to follow suit.

Good to see others share my enthusiasm for this title. I loved the first one, and this one is shaping to be better. I don't see any way they can screw this up now. Haha.

P.S. I also found an article with newly surfaced (Pun intended) artwork. http://technabob.com/blog/2009/08/15/bioshock-2-big-daddy-big-sister-art/

My biggest concern is that (as far as I know) 2K is making this game without any input from Ken Levine (the creator of the System Shock games and the first BioShock), and I'm afraid they'll fuck it up in some way. I hope it'll be good, though.

Well sometimes change is good; note the key word "sometimes." Lets just hope 2K doesn't screw this up.

Outta the big publishers (EA, Ubisoft, Activision, 2K), 2K is the company that least disapoints me, and has a great record of quality games.

Sid Meier's Pirates!
Civilization IV
Jade Empire (PC version)
Prey
Sid Meier's Railroads!
BioShock
Civilization Revolution
The 2K NBA series.

Ken Levine is only slightly involved with BioShock 2, and that worries me. I'm a little scared with being a Big Daddy, at least from the start. BioShock 2 has some big shoes to fill. I've said to my friends that BioShock was and still is the greatest game I've ever played on the Xbox 360.

If Levine chose to not be a part of this then the production team probably made some disappointing choices and I will be bummed out. I liked BioShock, but nowhere near as much as System Shock 1 or 2. Graphics don't mean everything, and BioShock just felt extremely cramped and claustrophobic. Also, it was extremely easy. Pretty, yes but the people who hail it as a masterpiece don't really realize it literally is just System Shock 2 with a different story and purty colors.

I still prefer System Shock 1 and 2. I remember being scared for the first time ever in a computer game with SHODAN and even again meeting her again in System Shock 2.

I hope Ken Levine's new game is System Shock 3. Apparently it is more ambitious than BioShock. Imagine a game where SHODAN actually needs your help. Imagine SHODAN
's morality being in trouble,

I will agree, system shock was some creepy stuff, but bioshock was very good its own right (with the possible excecption of the chemical thrower and the fact that plasmids could have been a little stronger but I degress).

As far as number 2 goes, the thing I'm most afraid of is being overpowered. Even though you are the "prototype" Big Daddy, your still mister freaking drill arm with a suit of armor and plasmids (lets face it, early on without these things, you would have been screwed in the first big daddy fight). I will also demand an explaination as to why these splicers are attacking you. In the last game they were territorial and hated new people, so why do they do it now?And I will also want another cast of creepers. Steinman, Atlas, and (shudder) Sander Cohen will be hard to replace.

The one thing I'm not worried about is how they will expand Rapture. I'm more than certain we only explored maybe 45-55% max on our last undersea adventure, as I somewhat remeber hearing that the watery hellhole could support at least 10 million, if not more. I'm also gald to hear vita trashing will be taken care of.

So, unless this game is made by complete morons who want to change everything that made Bioshock 1 so enjoyabe to make it more "family friendly" or worse yet, "appeal to a larger demographic," I'll probably have fun playing this game.[/quote]

And no matter what, it should still be better than at least 75-80% of the games out there today.

I should try playing Bioshock again. I like the bit I got to play. However, everytime I tried to play the game it would always crash after 15-20 minutes, so I gave up. Maybe now, with a new OS and updated drivers, I won't have the issue anymore.

BioShock 1 was too short, and once you know the twist, it kinda loses replay value. Let's hope BS2 fixes these problems.

Well the multi-player might add replay value! Rolling Eyes
As excited as I am for this game, I am not excited for the multi-player at all and have a feeling the game was delayed until next year because of this, which makes me not impressed

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to finish Bioshock 1 before my 360 broke. I told myself I was just going to go through and finish it so I could play 2 when it came out, but I didn't even make it to any of the big twists.

Syd is right, the game is short. Honestly, I could care less for the multiplayer. I'm in it for the story of Rapture, which is more interesting than the half-assed stories in games today. BioShock is good at storytelling through environment rather than direct action.

What really got me about Bioshock was the immersion factor.

I seriously have never felt so immersed in a game before in my life, Rapture just felt so real and visceral.

I agree 100% with this. I loved the art deco and the entire setting. The entire 1950's setting was perfect and how it was adapted to serve the story and location of Rapture was amazing. Plus the water in BioShock has to be the best water in a video game ever. And it's not like "Look...shiny water physics." The water added to the whole experience of being in this underwater city.

I hate it when developers/publishers are like "We have awesome water physics...we only have one level that uses them but it is awesome!" BioShock on the other hand used them for pretty much the entire game.

I remember playing the 360 demo a month before the retail release and when you come out of the water after the plane crash I thinking to myself "Is this still a cutscene?" Nope...that's gameplay!

A friend asked me about the game back in 2007 and I said it was the best game I've played on the 360 and the best game I've played in a while. That statement remains true for me to this day.
