Is Edward's damage completely random or what? I put him in the back row, and he usually does just enough damage to not be useless,
but at other times he'll do almost as much as Cecil, who's in front. Though Cecil's damage fluctuates a bit too...

Is there a way to get the description of a weapon or something? I bought a Chicken sword/knife and I would like to know if it helps you to run away. Fuck random encounters.

What? Chicken sword? First time I've heard about that...

There's a plain Knife for Edge, which is his ultimate weapon at 255 damage... You receive it after hitting Yang with a frying pan. But since you bought it, it is not what we're looking at.

You can buy a Dancing Dagger in Mist. It dances when used as a weapon, but I don't know what that does. Is that what you have?

More exciting stuff (and no, what the hell is a "chicken dagger"???)

*The group, in serious need of cash, makes a trip up to Mist. There, a Tiara is found that solves all their money issues for now.
*Using Josh's key, the group slips into Baron through the sewers. Once into Baron, they all cram into Satsui's bed for a good night's rest.
*Baigan joins, but after his dick move at the start of the game, did ANYONE think this was for real? The battle goes well, though Satsui eats a Fire2 spell from Fernin by mistake. I thought the Wall was still up...
*Back to the bed, then a quick fight against Cagnazzio. And I mean quick. Bolt2, Bolt3, Bolt2, Bolt3...
*Syd joins up, but Fernin and Hawk make a noble sacrifice. This is probably the saddest part of any FF game. Fuck off, Aeris.
*The party sees a show in Troia, while it's all guys, before any female party members make it awkward.
*We have a chat with Arlock, who's still recovering from the effects of the attack. Doc talks a little smack at him about how he'd "just be a burden". He gives over the TwinHarp anyways.
*The Magnetic Cave...oy. Cecil learns Cure2 just before it, which helps. He gets a GreatBow and sits in the back to pretend he's Rosa for a while. Syd just uses that hammer he came with. It's actually kind of easy this time. No Vampire Bats showed up.
*Dark Elf gives no trouble at all, once he's been Harp-ified. "Berserk on Satsui" is the key to so so many boss fights in this game...

If you really want an easy time against the Dark Dragon (Dark Elf's final form), cast Tornado/Weak against him, and then one hit after that he's done.

Yeah, but he has a chance of resisting it, and I've never been able to do it. He's easy enough.

In fact, should be clear sailing up until Calcobrena.

That's probably the Dancing dagger. Use it in battle as an item, will you? I want to know what it does.

It doesn't seem to let me do that. All I can use are potions and some random books, including one that makes me explode.

Also, Porum can't wield the Dancing dagger, according to GameFAQs.

What the fuck is it, then? FFWikia doesn't have any info about that.

A chicken dagger does exist in FFV, however.

If it's anything like it works in After Years, if you've got it equipped, you can then use it as an item where it will ask for a target, and then whn you can take the action, the blade will fly out and deal some decent damage (around 300-ish in After Years).

Ah ok. Well, I had sold it, and when I tried to buy another one, I had to go to that tower of Zot thing beforehand.

I tested it and it seems to be the Dancing dagger. It flew at the opponent and circled around it or something, I got it back after that, and it dealt about 320 damage.

EDIT : Are Palom and Porum really only 6 years old?!?

that's not fair
when my brother told me about this topic, every characters had already a name Crying
i wanted to have a character too.

if you do that with another final fantasy game, i really want a character Wink
it's funny to change their names Mr. Green

PS : if you do it with ffIX, i want eiko
it's my favorite character and don't want anyone to take her Twisted Evil

Nope. Five.

Well, cripes, I guess I kind of have to do FF9 now...since EVERYONE is pretty much called.

Interestingly enough, when I do the rename thing in FF9, Eiko always gets named "Sara". I don't know a Sara or anything. She just seems like a Sara.

Anyways, the game I'm currently actually playing is getting harder.

*We go and get Syd a full set of Mithril stuff in Mithril Town, then storm the Tower of Zot. And man, this place is hard. Like, hard hard.
*Magus Sisters go down easier than normal. Manage to kill them all at pretty much the same time (2 at once with Syd's Gaia Hammer, and the third went down on the next hit before she could cast Life)
* Doc dies for good, but we get BMan and Ruthee back. Good trade.
*Valvalis is kind of a bitch this time. I have a pretty solid strategy for her: Have Satsui cover Ruthee, , then have Ruthee spend all her time healing Satsui. He automatically covers everyone who gets hit with a Weak spell. Usually works well, unless she nails Satsui with a Weak, then hits him as she un-spins. She did, and then nailed BMan to kill him too, at about the same time Jeff got turned to stone. I'm surprised I pulled it out, to be honest (once I got BMan and Satsui up, Ruthee got KOed too...tough fight).
*Agart bugs me. For one thing, there's no reason to go there at all other than plot related things, the stuff sucks. Another is that you blow a HUGE FUCKING HOLE in the local mountain, and nobody seems to care.
*Syd leaves. He's really the only party member I'm ever sorry to see go.
*I know a trick with the Calbrina dolls. They only form up into the big doll (and get a full set of HP) when you either kill all the Cal, or all the Brina. The Cal (the ones in front) die in one hit, so kill 2 of them, get all the Brina in the back, then you can kill the last Cal quickly before it formed the Calbrina. Which is good, because Calbrina is the one of two bosses I can't consistently beat.
*Golbez is the other one I have trouble with (Calbrina also has a habit of beating the crap out of Satsui, making this battle an auto-loss). BMan gets lucky and Jumps out of the way of the HoldGas, meaning he's available to help when Nekoru shows up. 3 people make this fight much easier.
*We take a break in the Developer's Room. Snag an interesting magazine.
*Into the Tower of Babil, which isn't nearly as hard as the Tower of Zot.

Status is: Inside the Tower of Babil (first save point); Party is Satsui, BMan, Josh, Nekoru, Ruthee; Time: 6:53

me i want eiko to be named cirno
because i don't want any other character (except garnet) and she's my favorite
also, cirno is acting like a child so eiko is perfect Very Happy

if you do it with another final fantasy game, i also know which character i would like to take
example : final fantasy 7 -> aeris
i'll die but it doesn't bother me Laughing

What are your character levels? You seem to go really fast compared to me (though my time got inflated quite a bit because I always forget to pause),
and that could explain why I can kill stuff you have trouble with (tower of Zot)without any kind of strategy, apart from healing when at low HP.

Not sure exactly, everyone is around 23 or so. And Zot is just a difficulty spike in the game. It happens.

I'm probably a bit low on levels (I really want Rosa/Ruthee to have Cure3 now), but I should pick them up in the Tower here. I don't have to do any hardcore level-ups until before the Sealed Cave, when I need to go after the Summons and Sylph.

Eblan Castle... I ended up there trying to find where the fuck the passage to the Underground is.

Those monsters in the treasure chests are so fucking long to beat. It took like 10 minutes to kill those 3 giants. Only Yang could do significant damage, but he did like 3000.

I got some pretty nice weapons, though. Now if I could just find a NPC who can just give me a fucking hint...

EDIT : Never mind, I found it by flying around randomly.

I probably should have looted Eblan by now, come to think of it...

Game over'd from a Monster-in-a-pot, and lost about an hour of gameplay because I'm an idiot and didn't save.

Since when are there fucking monsters in pots? I couldn't run away, and it was that stupid eye that goes "Alert!" and summons a superpowerful monster to beat the shit out of you.

EDIT : Went back to look at it, and the summoned monster is a Paladin.

More adventures:

*At the top (middle?) of the tower, Lugae and Balnab go down easy, though Balnab explodes all over Ruthee for about 4000 damage. Lugaborg is also very easy, except for one very nasty attack he can't really hurt you, and while he has a ton of status effects, he also heals you (?).
*Josh dies for the second time. Syd dies unnecessarily while saving everyone else (just THROW the damn bomb down, would ya?).
*Eblan Castle gets looted. I forgot to go heal up, though, so the monster chests almost get me.
*Eblan Cave is a lot of running from bats. Not because I can't beat them, but because they take too long. Gish joins the party and proceeds to become the biggest asshole in the game.
*Back into the Tower of Babil on the overworld side, which is a challenge. Rubicante is one of my favorite bosses. I use the "Fire spell on him, Life spell on our party" trick more than once...and really, except for Scorch, he doesn't have much in the way of strong attack...plus Kain and Cecil still have their Ice weapons. And he inexplicably cast Ice2 on himself while the cloak was open.
*Hmmm. So Syd has the Enterprise, but Gish goes with the Falcon? No wonder they don't get along. We steal an airship, then have Syd, who's not really dead (a common theme in the game), pimp it out so it can fly on lava.
*We go to Tomra, that other dwarf village nobody ever remembers the name of, and pick up a whole bucnh of Diamond gear.

Time: 8:53; Party is Gish, BMan, Nekoru, Satsui, Ruthee, location is outside Tomra.

I'm at the point where I sort of have to do some serious leveling to handle the Sealed Cave, plus I want to go get the other Summons (well, the first half of the Sylph Cave. Can't get back to Fabul yet). Also, I haven't solved the "Edge in front or back?" dilemma totally yet. Any opinions?

And some more:

*Lots of leveling up, in all three Underworld caves. The damn doors, as damned as they are, are easily the best way to gain levels...so I take them all out (and I also have a bit of fun with the Reflect item too). I also learned if you cast Exit on a damage square, it counts as walking on that square about 50 times and nukes your HP. Fun.
*Once Ruthee learned Float, I went and chatted with the Sylphs. Looks like Josh cheated death again.
*Once she learned Wall, it was off to the Land of Summons. Asura went down very easily as always (she was nice enough to heal my party, thanks to that Wall spell). Leviatan was also easy, but took forever...lot of HP on that sucker. But hey, the summon is so worth it (Asura, not so much).

10:52, same party as before, in the Land of Summons.

*facepalm* no, I didn't remember because my brain is cottage cheese and I have a memory like a sieve. At least I do when I'm posting when I should be asleep lol.

Still, highly enjoying the updates and am looking forward to the conclusion.
