more bad news for SC2 fans:
| Quote: |
As recently as June, Blizzard insisted they still intend to release StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty this fall. But with the game's open beta test recently delayed, it looks less and less likely that Blizzard will make the deadline, and now Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia is predicting we will indeed have to wait until 2010 to get our hands on it.
Bhatia made the prediction to the Wall Street Journal (via GamesIndustry.biz), following Activision Blizzard's announcement that their upcoming first-person shooter Singularity was delayed into next year -- a fate that, according to Bhatia, "increasingly appear[s]" to be in store for StarCraft 2 as well.
Blizzard themselves have even said that while a 2009 release is the goal, they wouldn't hesitate to delay the game if they feel it's necessary. "We're not going to ship the game if it's not ready," said lead producer Chris Sigaty. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they do indeed make their desired date... but don't be too shocked if StarCraft 2 turns out to be delayed after all. |

although these are just analyst predictions, it still doesnt bode well for that games release

Brutal....What are they doing over there at Blizzard? There is only one thing to do now, they need to hire Tony Robbins to co-ordinate their Starcraft team.

It doesn't really matter to me, I won't be able to play SCII(Or DIII) on decent settings until I can get myself a good desktop computer.

StarCraft 2 Officially Pushed Back to 2010
See that beauty of a screenshot up there? Get a really good look at it, because you won't be playing it this year. There was speculation that it would happen -- and it was rumored heavily enough that Activision Blizzard stock dropped 14% throughout July -- and now StarCraft 2 has officially been delayed in the first half of 2010. The first in the trio of StarCraft 2 releases, Wings of Liberty, was to be released later this year, but Blizzard has confirmed the delay.
An official statement from Blizzard PR reads:
| Quote: |
Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game. The upgraded Battle.net is an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward. This extra development time will be critical to help us realize our vision for the service.
Our mission is to develop games that deliver an epic entertainment experience. As part of that commitment, we will always take as much time as needed to ensure that our games and services meet the expectations of our players and the standard for quality that we set for ourselves as developers. As we work to make Battle.net the premier online gaming destination, we?ll also continue to polish and refine StarCraft II, and we look forward to delivering a real-time strategy gaming experience worthy of the series? legacy in the first half of 2010. |
This is tremendously disappointing news; SC2 was one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. Fans have been waiting for more than 11 years for a sequel to the original, and it looks like that figure might end up being stretched to 12 years. We've got our fingers crossed the game won't suffer any further delays, and likewise that this will be the last game release that gets pushed out of 2009. |

we all saw this coming, but it still sucks when its officially announced that the game will be delayed.

I prob won't even be able to play it on lowest settings which if its the case il have to use the other house computer.
On the LAN thing. It's a big deal because all the tournaments played in Korea etc. for Starcraft are played LAN because it would be ridiculously hard to get everyone online to play or because of the lag that may be produced.
Though on saying that. Isn't it just a coincidence that they happen to be charging for Battle Net in the future?
What better a way to get more money for Blizzard than to remove LAN so your forced to play on Battle Net.
My opinion of Blizzard is rapidly declining.

Same thing for me.
Normally I'm not into new games or movies, but I'm really excited about StarCraft II. That is, unless Blizzard kills the franchise like they did WarCraft with WarCraft III and World of WarCraft.
Diablo III I don't really care about. I didn't like Diablo II (due to how the darkness and creepiness were considerably toned down) and the series was always kind of repetitive to me anyway.

LOL
They are just enjoying the WoW Cash cow too much. They don't want to lose the people who would take a break to play Diablo III.
Also, they have to make everyone believe that Diablo III is way better than Torchlight. Which it may or may not be.

Blizzard Diablo III fans... this might sting a bit.

| Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer respectfully believes that a third Torchlight game could be out before Blizzard's Diablo 3 |
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/24/torchlight-3-out-before-diablo-3-runic-ceo-hypothesizes/
His estimate is based on the Runic Games one year development cycle. They just announced and are preparing for Torchlight II, and expect on year later to have Torchlight III. Essentially they hope to have III out in late 2011.
We don't know when in 2011, but that is the year for Diablo III. Considering that Torchlight I was built and announced after the first Diablo III demo videos started coming out, this makes Blizzard's infinite budget look like it might be overwhelming their development.
