and seriously Jeebus, GI Joe flatout sucked so there was nothing else worth seeing at the movies.

at least until District 9 and/or Inglorious Basterds are released

I'm going to pretend I didn't read this. I refuse to see either of those. The only director worse than Tarantino is M. Night Shyamallan, however the fuck that's spelled, and District 9 is going to be a super-heavy handed film about the poor Mexicans.

although i dont agree w/what you said, i will defend to the death your right to say it.

I like Tarantino films, but I'm not sure about Inglourious Basterds. The fact that it insists on mispelling its title in an era where too many people are already too dimwitted to spell properly really pisses me off. Plus, it has Mike Myers, and Mike Myers hasn't been relevant since 1999. Plus, it's historically preposterous. Plus, Brad Pitt's accent is goofy and annoying.

If I see it, I'll almost certainly enjoy it. But Tarantino is an arrogant, annoying little man who loves the sound of his own voice and I'm sick of people throwing awards at him.

but IB looks decent. maybe im just a brad pitt fan. in the manliest sense of the term of course. and it has eli roth. cant go wrong w/a hebrew guy.

and i have to agree, D9 will have some sort of underlying immigration/segregation message. but what movie nowadays doesnt have a message?
Its not going to have an underlying message. An underlying message would imply a level of subtlety or nuance that will be tragically absent. This movie is going to firmly grasp its moral in its two hands and beat you with it until you're too battered to resist.

I personally also take issue with mexican immigrants being compared to creepy bug things floating in advanced supercities.

I never really thought of Peter Jackson as a subtle message kind of guy, considering none of his movies seem to have one beyond "This next battle scene is gonna be sweet."

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Keeping in mind that this is a "Peter Jackson presents:" film.

Oh, naturally assumed he was directing as usual. Strike my last comment from the record.
