I fucking hated Dragon Warrior. I thought that game was just lame as hell. But keep in mind the first RPG I played was Final Fantasy. Then I started playing Ultima: Avatar and Destiny of an Emperor. Spending hundreds of hours on them of course driving my mom nuts. And then I played Dragon Warrior and holy shit was it lame!

I don't "hate" them, but I never saw what was so great about the Mario games. Any of the ones I played, anyway.....which would be 1-3 and Super Mario World on SNES.

Secret Of Mana. How that got twice as many votes as Metroid, I'll never know.
I know I've said that before, probably word-for-word, but I so wanted to like that game, having beaten Final Fantasy Adventure. Oh, yeah, I also beat Legend Of Mana earlier this decade.

You have got to be fucking shitting me....
Without being very long-winded, Mario pioneered 2D and 3D and has pushed more games, and to an extent, consoles, than any franchise in history.
That is pretty great.

I actually agree with you. The Super Mario series was I thought grossly overrated. For example Mario 3 is 'accepted' as the greatest NES game ever. Now there's no doubt that Mario 3 was fun and addicting, but it was also easy and pretty damn cheesy. I liked it but it wasn't my favorite game, not by far. I don't even think it was in my top 10.

You guys are insane...
Anyways, I always thought NiGHTS on the Saturn was a little bit overrated and it was not quite deserving of it's "cult classic" status. Granted it "pioneered" analog control, but it was pretty mediocre, not really 3D at all, and perfected a year later by Nintendo.
I got the sequel to NiGHTS on the Wii last year and it was VERY underwhelming

I actually liked Secret of Mana. Sure it was a little cheesy for an RPG but it was fun to play with 2 players.

I guess that was my problem, then. But where am I going to find someone to stay with me every step of the way through a real-time epic?

I know you guys are talking older games, but I have a current gen game that everyone likes that I hate, Mass Effect. I can't stand that game and everyone else thinks it's the bees knees.

I really don't like most every Legend of Zelda games that exist, with the exception of Adventures of Link, Wind Waker, Link's Awakening, and Majora's Mask. The games just never appealed to me as much as other RPGs.

I know what you mean. I haven't played this game with anybody since my friend and I went through it in 1994!

Probably because Adventure of Link is the only game in the series that is an RPG.
By the way, your avatar is awesome.

I wouldn't say I hate it, but I can't for the life of me understand the lashings of praise that Resident Evil 4 recieves. It took out everything that made the series a hit to cater to the ADHD crowd. Where's my puzzles? My claustrophobia? My pants-shitting jump scares? My Umbrella corp? It was just shooting shit followed by more shooting shit, with some annoying QTE's thrown in. Don't even wanna bother with 5.
I'll never get the appeal of the Animal Crossing games either. Just...don't get me started on those games.

I never really cared too much for any Grand Theft Auto game after the first one. It's all about stealing cars and shooting bastards, not to mention there was the infamous Hot Coffee Mod.

By first one, I take it you are referring to Grand Theft Auto III?

I -was- a fan of the Grand Theft Auto games once, but I put in so many hours into both 3 and Vice City that I guess I got burnt out on the whole series. I tried to play San Andreas and just had to put it down because I'd felt I'd already done all this before. Being able to button mash at the gym or change your look didn't really freshen my take on the games.

Oh boy, here it goes.
95% of all JRPGs that operate like FF.
Soulcalibur IV
Resident Evil 4-5
All LoZ games
Super Mario Galaxy(Not flat-out hate, but it didn't wow me like everyone else, I think people just liked it for being 60 fps.)
Halo 2
Disgaea
Persona 3-4
Others probably too.

Galaxy controlled unbelievably well, it was a very interesting take on the Mario universe.

64 and Sunshine had good control as well, once again I don't see how it stands out from the other two, besides presentation.

FFVIII and IX. Back when I was a really big fan of Final Fantasy I found those two to be pretty unlikable. The characters seemed to lack personality and the battle system in both of them just didn't do it for me. I also seemed to get headaches whenever I played, I really disliked the music (except for the basic boss music of FFVIII. For some reason I always enjoy the basic boss music best).

I've always felt that IX has the best character development out of any FF game. It's not my favorite in the series, but that's the one major praise I have for it. VIII's cd isn't great, but still way better than say, XII.
Speaking of which...oh god do I hate Final Fantasy XII.
