6, 12, or 50, its still sad to see the things that were a big part of your life go the way of the Dodo. Sad

What because they're still playing the same line-up as when we were kids? Wait, Cartoon Network didn't exist when I was a kid, and all its original lineup has been gone for years. Now it's all shitty flash cartoons, where everything is so stylized it makes me want to puke. This coming from a graphic artist. Flash can be a useful tool, but the animation is so lazy it's an embarrassment.

I don't care! It's the idea goddammit! I STAND ON MY SOAPBOX AND WILL FIGHT YOU TO THE END OF THE EARTH!!!

Okay no but seriously, they do play cartoons from the 80s and 90s on Boomerang. I assume that'll be axed soon enough, if they're going away from a full cartoon lineup. That isn't really specifically why its a bad thing, but...still. Its the idea, dammit. Evil
It's ok. I was making a rather cheap joke and sticking to it. It's true that I don't watch the cartoon network anymore (though I thought Chowder and Fosters were actually pretty funny shows) but I understand how the trend, especially the incorperation of reality shows for children could be discouraging, and definately be seen as a landmark towards the general dumbing down of television of the last few years.

Dances with Wolves 2 is gonna ROCK!

Oh I know it was all in fun. Hence my immature response. Wink

Gah, somehow when I read this I missed the part about adding REALITY SHOWS. Reality shows need to shrivel up and die. The only ones worth watching are possibly the ones on HGTV and Food Newwork, that either a) build people who deserve it a new house (always a good thing no matter how it gets done), or b) allows new chefs exposure and teaches me how to cook stuff. Both of these formats are good, and also demonstrate people using actual skills.

But as for "I love New York" (which I had the misfortune of sitting through once because I flipped it on by accident and couldn't turn away; it was like a car wreck) and the rest of that drivel, it needs to die hard, and die fast.

I recently saw Ice Age 3 and one of the commercials i had to suffer through was an advertisement for the changes on cartoon network.

It feature the some douche performing a song in the typical music style kids today are apparently still into. The same fucking note played over and over again with a guy 'singing' in the most chain smoker worth voice in a way that simulated Forest Gumpah on Speed. I'm not sure what genre of music this is but if they were trying to be 'cool' with this commercial then it fail because it came off more annoyingly retarded then cool. I fucking want my 2 minutes of existence back so i could use them for much better things, like beating up the emo punks that popularized this shit.

Seriously is every musician kids into now a days completely void of talent? I wish i could find the video, because it has to be seen to be believed. And you know what is really hilarious, i don't give a crap if cartoon network is changing, just don't interrupt my moving going experience with some moron on a guitar that makes the losers on Americas got talent look like fucking Beethoven.

You know what's even funnier, i don't even remember Ice Age because the commercials i sat through 5 minutes before hand have stuck with my mind. Evil

I'm pretty sure I saw Andrew W.K singing and playing guitar on a commercial for cartoon network. Bah.

Also has anyone seen commercials for this "Mighty Boosh" bullshit? It makes me wanna stab my eyes out when I wake up in the middle of the night and that shit is on CN.

I'd be watching CN if they did have good shows besides stuff on Adult Swim. I liked it the most when it was the classic cartoons.

Shame the Cartoon Network I remember from that time is gone. I even remember a Pulp Fiction parody commercial between Shaggy and Droopy. They mimicked the whole "Royale With Cheese" scene from Pulp Fiction all in cartoon terms and it blew my mind. I can't even remember how it went but I'll give it a shot:

Shaggy: "So tell me again about the Scooby Snack bars."

Droopy: "You can't just grab a Scooby Snack and just start chomping away...there are certain designated places."

Shaggy: "Those are Scooby Snack bars?"

Droopy: "Yes...if you the proprietor of a SN bar its legal to sell it, but get this...if you get caught by the monsters in Cartoonville it is illegal for them to scare you."

Shaggy: "I'm fucking going...that's all there it to it...I'm fucking going."

Droopy: "I know baby...you dig it the most."

OK it didn't go like that but it was along those lines. I pulled that whole converstion right out of my ass. Still pretty funny...right?
Maybe it's just me, but I seem to remember Dexter's Laboratory doing a Die Hard parody.

Dexter's lab did do a die hard parody, albeit a loose one. The janitor gets peeved that dexter stays late every night forcing him to go home late so he traps him. He ends up having to walk on packets of ketchup and sporks at the end, in an homage to the glass part.

I know a girl who is into the Mighty Boosh but i tried watching it, it was more sad then funny, like someone trying to be Monty Python funny and failing at it.

Also, now that i know Andrew W.K was the annoying ass in the music video/promo commercial i will now search for it so you may all suffer like i have!

Well, maybe we should make the government pass a bill that only allows reality shows to be played on CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox. Maybe Discovery and Spike as well, but definitely not MTV or Cartoon Network.

Or we just resort to PC TV, but that'd run up your electric bill. But to be honest MTV's current reality shows aren't that bad compared to others.

The "What a Cartoon Show" was definitely in the hayday of CN. They were certainly in their prime then.
