For the fourth time in my life, I have beaten The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask. As always, save the first time, I got absolutely everything in that game. Though the player is inevitably given the opportunity to solve every problem in the game, since the Link featured in the game's follow-up releases, the Oracle games, is a different one from the one in the N64 releases, one question remains unanswered:

Did Link ever find Navi?

That is all.

Actually, I think that when Link played the Oath To Order, all the timelines he'd experinced up until then merged. The game actually begins with Link searching for Navi, but we never find out whether or not he found her.

A better question is, why would he WANT to find her?

She was easily the most annoying LoZ character ever.

The opening story said that Link was looking for "A friend with whom he parted ways when he finally fulfilled his heroic destiny and took his place among legends". In the ending to Ocarina Of Time, who is seen parting ways with Link as he puts the Master Sword back into place for the final time? Navi.

IIRC, the Link in Soul Calibur 2 is the LTTP Link, who is also the grandmother of Ocarina's Saria.

He also had the bug-catching net from LTTP. Also, those are Extra Mode weapons anyway, and are not SC2 canon.

This is his story from SC2:
Quote:
Once upon a time, Hyrule's tranquility was shattered by the arrival of several disasters. The calamities brought dark, ominous clouds which shut out the sun. Surprisingly, it came to light that a magician was to blame for the disasters.

Just as the people were about to lose all hope, the sun miraculously returned. Link, who was summoned by Zelda to find the cause of the disasters, successfully defeated the magician. The people of Hyrule rejoiced in the belief that eternal peace would rule.

Unfortunately, this was not to be.

It became clear that the magician responsible for the disasters was in fact controlled by an evil sword called Soul Edge, which existed in another world.

Furthermore, the fragments of Soul Edge were gathering together in
this other world.

Knowing that the resurrection of the evil blade must be prevented at all costs, Link chose to travel to the other world and destroy Soul Edge.

Link gathered his trusted Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and
Ocarina, and set off on a secret journey.

The fact that he makes direct contact with Zelda narrows it down to either LTTP or OOT. The reference to a "magician" would seem to reference Agahnim, but it could be a mistranslation. The fact that he has the Ocarina would seem to imply that it's OOT, but it could be making up for the fact that the "Flute" in LTTP was clearly a mistranslated Ocarina.

But he has the Hylian Shield, which would seem to definitively imply that this is OOT Link. Or rather, since MM Link and OOT Link are the same guy, it would imply that the events of SC2 take place directly after OOT.

Also, I don't think Hyrule plunges into darkness in LTTP. It might, when Zelda gets zapped into the Dark World, but I don't remember that being the case.

I always thought that when Zelda got zapped into the Dark World, the Light World (real Hyrule) stayed more or less the same. The Dark World was an alternate version of Hyrule modeled after Ganon's evil wishes.

Yeah, the Light World remains the same. Like I said, I didn't think it changed, but I couldn't quite remember.

As for the Dark World, it is not alternate Hyrule. It is the Golden Land, where the Triforce was hidden long ago. The Triforce has the power to grant one's greatest desire, and Gannon's greatest wish was power. Since his heart was evil, it corrupted the appearance of the Golden Land. Or something like that.

But the fact that the Dark World map largely mirrors Hyrule was more of a design issue.

Yeah, you're right. I knew I was leaving something out. I forgot about the "Golden Land". I'll commence my punishment of playing LttP nonstop for a week....now.
