It's about fucking time. Now it's only a matter of time before we stop aging all together. Now being 26 doesn't feel so bad. Wink or a certain someone who is 30 Razz

Damn...on the one hand, this is like, a dream come true for me. I want to watch the future unfold so badly. (Well, maybe given recent events I don't, but...)

What would it mean for the world population though? Confused Extend life, and the planet has to support even more people at one time. If we don't make some radical changes, people will just die of starvation and/or in the global war for resources, and the life extension will become irrelevant.

I'm torn on this.

On one hand, who wouldn't love to stave off the negative effects of aging, such as baldness, loss of libido and being sore from the previous day's workout every time you wake up?

On the flip side, we're going to be looking at overpopulation, stretching social security even further, and MORE and OLDER drivers on the road.

Social Security is going to die before any of us retire, its all about 401K's and maybe, if people who shouldn't be having multiple kids would stop having them, or limit like China or whatever country. Plus I would love to see someone get a 150 year sentence and actually have them serve the whole damn thing.

Much like spandex, this should be one of those things that at the very least needs to have an application process. Most people I know need to have a life-shortening drug given to them. Those damn PDFA people don't know the damage they're doing by telling stupid people to NOT do meth.

I think death is part of living. It's not something I look forward to obviously, but I have experienced the death of enough close friends to honestly not be afraid anymore. We spend so much time and money avoiding the inevitable.

You could get cancer from second hand smoke any day, or you could get hit by a car. People who stay cooped up, afraid of everything have certainly not lived their lives as intended.

Just look around you. Life is fucking gorgeous, and nothing will change that.

I never said I didn't like being alive, I just see no point in delaying death. Eternal life, for one, would suck. It would really get boring after a while

Hell, we could also just increase the age for social, considering when it came out, 65 was around the average life expectancy.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I've also noticed that when people retire there seems to be an increase in death %age. I'm working til I can't function in that case.

I've always wanted to live to be 100 so I can at least get a glimpse of the future before I bite it. So I welcome this.

Josh presents a lot of good points. Take the fact that I've lost loved ones and add it with the fact that I worked in a retirement home for 5 years + my job at the meat packing plant and times that by the fact that I've tried to commit suicide three times since Christmas and you've got one person who is not afraid of death in the least.

As a result, I try and keep it so that when I die, I can look back on life and have a smile on my face.

Why so serious about suicide?

I mean we have all thought about it at different times, but isn't almost everything in life pretty recoverable after a while and shitty situations eventually do change?

ask Douch or myself, we are 26 and we know this.

i agree. im also 26.... i mean 21. and i have to tell you, EVERYONE goes thru BS.

you have to realize that everyone you know will disappoint you at one point in your life. and everyone you know will also reject you or die. once you accept this, it makes it easier to deal w/life's ups & downs.

Sorry to dump that on you guys. I'm doing much better now because I did come to the realization that life is how you make it. There's a lot of things still troubling me, but I take it in stride and focus on the good.

And the whole point of my previous post, which I seemed to forget to make, is that as unafraid of death as I very obviously am, I like the idea of this and if I could choose to last a while and see how shit goes down, I would.

If this stuff is real, we should start putting in our water supply, along with the fluoride.

Also, this breakthrough means that the popular daytime game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" may eventually be replaced with "Who Wants To Live Forever?".
