Hey not sure if this is in the right subforum, if not feel free to move it.

I've noticed that certain games don't run right, like Starfox and Contra III The Alien Wars, the backgrounds are all muddled pixelated gibberish. Like the second level in contra (the top down view one) the only thing that makes sense is the player character, everything else is incomprehensible. Same deal for the backgrounds for Starfox, the fighter thingy looks fine but the level is all effed up.

Is the part that handles that called Mode 7 or am I wrong?

Also is there something simple I can do like switch up some settings to make this work or am I gonna have to do something complicated?

I'm checking other forums for answers but everything is a bit over my head, wondered if any of you guys knew a quick fix. Confused

Dumb question but have you tried different versions of the games? Also do they play fine on a different emulator.

Hey blackout, try hitting the numbers 1-9 on your keyboard, it changes some of the palette settings, and chunks out some of the background, then you can hit the same button again to change it back to normal.

I remember when I first played Chrono Trigger on an emulator, when I got to the future, I could not see my characters on the world map because the fog was covering the whole screen. I hit the number 2 on the keyboard and it removed the fog so I could see where to go. Hit it again and it goes back to normal. It's sometimes neccesary, but I have not had that problem in years, mostly because I try to keep my emulators up to date.

Dunno about Contra III, but Starfox uses the Super FX chip which is kind of tough to emulate.

I just completely stopped using Zsnes a while ago, because I was sick of all of the little sound and visual bugs. I've gone to snes9x a few months ago, and haven't looked bag.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

You might also like FCEUltra

Personally it is my favorite emulator even though it isn't as widely used as snes9x.
