I loved the character creation option on Armageddon, it was kind of a pain unlocking ALL the different moves but once you got that out of the way it was pretty sweet.
*edit* Oh and the end boss was the cheapest re skin job I've ever seen, shame on you Mortal Kombat! Sadly no

Wasn't the end boss Blaze? Like, the same guy who was also a playable character?

They cut far too many corners in MK: Armageddon.

Each fighter only got 1 style + weapon, Motoro lost his hind legs, and the endings were shite. I was really looking forward to the Kreate-a-Fighter mode, but in reality I found it to be kind of hollow. In retrospect, I can do without it now.

If you'll remember, I beat the game as every last character. When I beat the game as Motaro, it explained and rectified his appearance. Kintaro's, on the other hand, didn't.

Yea Motoro's ending "explained" why he lost his hind legs. But the reality was that they couldn't fit his 4-legged character model into the game. So we got a half-assed version of him (literally).

Yeah, Motaro's ending was just a very predictable explanation for why the programmers couldn't be bothered to give Motaro a completely different move-set from everyone else. I was seriously hoping to see Motaro with all four legs in 3D.(Barring his appearance in Deception's Konquest mode)

I'd like to maybe see him as a returning sub-boss for this game, and for them to bring back KaF.

My biggest issue with Mortal Kombat is that it DID kind of drop the ball. I remember the first time I ever saw Mortal Kombat vividly, as if I'd seen it yesterday. This was probably literally about 16 or so years ago, I was a young, impressionable 12 year old, and walking into the arcade in the local bowling alley, I see what was at the time a very realistic looking fighting game and then the end comes. Playing as Sub-Zero, the guy mercilessly beats his opponent, FINISH HIM rocks the world, and then it happens-- he pulls his fucking SPINE out. I was beyond horrified as I'd never seen this in a game before, and I was HOOKED. I was in awe.

I want Mortal Kombat to recapture THAT. I want Mortal Kombat to grow its balls back and get rid of its injection of 60s Batman camp.

BTW, Deception's Konquest mode MADE the game for me. The arcade mode was awesome and all, but Konquest sealed the deal. It's basically what Midway SHOULD have done when they were making the godawful side games (MK Mythologies Sub Zero and MK Special Forces).

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

The only way they would take it too far would be if they apply Rule 34 to the gameplay.

And fine, I'll ask: Why is Shredder packing heat on that pic?

Agreed, majorly. I lost far, far too many nights of sleep to side quests and exploration in that game. God it was good times. Running around the realms is STILL a ton of fun, although some of those kombat challenges are downright evil.

Yea it really was amazing how addictive that Konquest mode was, given how simplistic it was. I had a blast just exploring the realms, getting to see them from a different point of view that wasn't just a backdrop to a fight.

You know what I'd really love to see? A similar Konquest mode that lets you explore between realms, but also lets you visit specific locations FROM the backdrops--i.e. inside of Kahn's palace, Blaze's lava sanctuary, the Clocktower, etc. Even if you couldn't actually interact with anything there, it would still be awesome just to stand there and take it in. The closest MK:D came to something like that was letting you visit the Lin Kuei hideout and the White Lotus temple.

That was Sub-Zero's head on a Gears of War guy. Or maybe it was Master Chief, I'm not gonna go check because Kotaku takes forever to load on my computer.

The Armageddon Konquest mode did this to an extent. You visit Shao Kahn's palace, the Red Dragon lair, Shinnok's Spire, and a bunch of other semi-important MK locations.

It always pissed me off in Deception's Konquest that you get invited to Shang Tsung's tournament, but don't go.

One thing I don't get: why the fuck did Sektor have a spaceship in Armageddon?

I really enjoyed MK Deception.....not sure why people seem to dislike it.

...Mainly because it's sluggish and somewhat unbalanced, especially compared to some of the earlier games and Armageddon. Don't get me wrong, I like Deception, too (Especially all the old(er) characters and Stage Fatalities they brought back, as well as the endings and other Game Modes), but most people (Especially online) act like the 3D Mortal Kombat games are the Anti-Christ because they're not like, say, Street Fighter and/or Tekken/Virtua Fighter.

People bitch about all that, but we all know if MK was more like any of those games, then people would dismiss it for being 'unoriginal.' So, in other words, the series can't win for losing with many people.

Despite all that, I'm glad they're working on a new one (Especially considering the Company's Financial Troubles)--I kinda passed on MK Vs. DC, but I may pick it up now that it's getting cheaper...

Was I supposed to put something here?

It wasn't a spaceship, it was an airship. What spaceship do you know has fans in the outer shell?

This is true, and it was cool. However, it was also linear--there was no going back and exploring locations, or traveling between realms at will like there was in MK: D. *THAT* is what I'm looking for. So I guess, an amalgamation of those two would be great.

One with a really weird ventilation system? What kind of airship has computers on it, isn't made of wood, and isn't powered by sails and/or propellors? Certainly no airship I'm willing to recognize.

I'm forced to agree with this. Whether or not Sektor's ship was space capable or not (and given the fact it has a teleporter, I can't imagine its not; that would just be weird), it isn't an airship.

Well that goes without saying. Its badassness was never up for debate (at least not with me), just exactly what the proper nomenclature for said ship is.

I will say though, as cool as the ship is, I HATED that level. Hawk + any timed level = broken controller/television/PS2. Ugh.
