Announcements about the movie about the puzzle game serie had been out for a while as you can see here:

However, there's a new trailer out and the movie now has an official title:

Based on speculations, it seems the storyline for the movie will be in between The Diabolical Box and The Last Time Travel (the second and third games).

One thing that caught my attention however is how it is promoting about having puzzles in the movie (which it pretty much an inversion of what has been going on with the games if you think about it). If the movie is released on DVD, it makes complete sense; if it has a theatrical release however, it makes you wonder how are they gonna pull it off. My guess is that they'll probably do it like the movie Clue in which it gave you room to figure it out who did it (or in the case of Professor Layton, to figure out the answer to the puzzles). Yanno, like the Da Vinci code, but with less BS.

Now, if you excuse me...

Considering the quality they put into the animated sequences, I suppose it makes sense they'd make a movie.
