Aren't there some games out there that allow you to put them on your website?

Probably, but what the fuck is the point? If you can play them on other sites, why play them here? Hence, I want proprietary games or nothing.

Bragging rights, not unlike the gaming challenges here?

Yes I can, no I won't.

There is a lot of free shit that people can get me to do, making a video game isn't one of them. Unless Greeneyedzeke is going to work on it with me.

We actually had something going for a bit using Gamemaker about 2 years ago. Unfortunately work got too busy and we couldn't get it any further. Still... the output file is an EXE not a SWF, so a web game is most likely out.

Also, doesn't GameMaker have a loading window that says "Made with Gamemaker"? I remember playing around with it once and not being thrilled with that aspect.

making a game is alot harder than people think

I tried using Adventure Game Studio in the old Sierra style and actually made one level. I eventually quit when I realized i had no artistic talent for the backgrounds and that i needed an animator and sounds guy.

Yeah, making games is hard. Most of the stuff I've designed are repetitive one screen arcade style games, because that cuts down on design and development time.

What the fuck is wrong with you? "Hey GPF make us something for free!"

GPF has been generous enough to donate some of his time to helping me with this site, and I am very, very grateful for that. But don't make demands of him. That's VERY rude, and VERY uncool.

I was just thinking of the usual flash games (snake, the helicopter one, etc), didn't mean for it to turn into talks of a big undertaking. Sorry if it opened a can of worms. Pac-Man

Syd did have me kicking around an idea that I made an alpha version of. I also have a shooter that I made for a competition (that needs to be ram-optimized, but I have to get a full version of GameMaker for that. That will remove the "made with GameMaker tag, however). I have been meaning to learn flash, so I may throw some shit together. After all, how hard can it be?

I paid for Gamemaker... I think it was $20 or so... yeah that sounds right. In any case I was able to remove that "Made with Gamemaker" logo and replace it or get rid of it. I just had to have something to change it to.

If you know the Flash language and Actionscript, you are are all set. I don't know it though. Also, flash doesn't have a physics framework that I am aware of. That is what makes Gamemaker so easy to code with by comparison.

Well, I think this would be a good idea, and if we can use the freeware games everything should work out for us....
