I'm starting to suspect that marketers are doing these kind of naught-ish ads on propose to get more attention to their product. I mean come on, they must know how wrong it looks.

That's exactly right. A good ad sticks in a person's mind, so when they go to buy a product, they will thing of the product in the ad. And this ad definitely sticks in the mind, especially because of the attention given to it.
