Yeah, you should come walk the streets of Chilliwack sometime. I mean like downtown at noon. They're just...everywhere. I mean, they tend to not attack unless provoked, but god-damn, going to the grocery store is like walking through a lion habitat.

Yeah, Guns. I have none. I guess if I could have any gun, It'd be a Tommy gun with round barrel cartridge, wooden finger grips and all. Also a Mac 10 would be cool.

SA80 A2, with a SUSAT sight. Oh and completely pointless mentioning it because no guns in Britain.
Sooo... Rubber Duck.. for comic value. Who else could say they've dispatched a burglar with a rubber duck? Not me.. but it would be cool.

Kudos for Knyte also owning a Bokken.
You guys and your guns your like goddamn crazy mountain people. You're armed like the Incredible Hulk is going to sneak in your window at night to punch your organs out of your ears, when what you need at most is a heavy piece of wood to thrash some toothless meth addict away from your silverware. |
Hmmm, it's not about need. Do I NEED all of the guns I own? Probably not. Should I be barred from owning them because I do not NEED them? I would say Hell the fuck no. I don't see how exercising my rights as an American citizen equates to being one of the "crazy mountain people", I'm not out in the street waiting for someone to shoot, never threatened anyone with violence, I hope everyday I never need to use a weapon for such a purpose, but I am prepared to if my wishes go unnoticed. Most of what I do is competitive shooting via the IPSC, USPSA, and NRA competitive shooting leagues, even if none of the guns I own were for that purpose, why the hell should it matter that I legally own firearms? Because of people who have no desire to understand that my hobby is a valid one? I have no problem with others not wanting to own firearms, that's their right, when people think they don't need them I shouldn't have them is pure BS.
EDIT: Just got off the phone with my dad (23 Year Veteran of the Chicago Police Dept. now a Rescue Diver for the CPD Marine Unit), I asked him the feasibility of your scenario pertaining fending off a doped up criminal, not that someone busting into your abode would automatically make them a crack/meth head, with a blunt wooden object, you know what he said? Nothing, he was fucking laughing at me, then he tells me "Good luck with that", being that he has experience in that area and I certainly don't, I trust his word.(but I don't doubt that this CAN be done, anything is possible, and I'm not saying the cure all is guns guns guns, not at all)
Here's a pic of the old man working:
 |
Get of your highhorse douchebag. If you would have actually read my post instead of knee jerking it you would have noticed that I didn't say you couldn't own it, just that it makes you like a crazy mountain person. If you read the forums more you would know I'm a libertarian, and gun rights are important to me. But, if for example someone off the street after mentioning guns told me they're outta room and are going to need a second shed then well I'm going to call a spade a spade.
Second, perhaps if I lived in the irrevocable shithole like Chicago I might carry better armaments, but I live in New Mexico. And where I happen to live, the biggest issue is petty thieves feeding a petty drug habit, so they scatter pretty quickly.

Resorting to name calling are we? Classy. But in any case I don't see what or how many firearms I own makes it look as if I'm "like" one of those god damn ultra right wing psychos. Not as if I'm walking around with a rifle on my back.

For DLP (Defense of Life and Property), I'd have any gun compatible with non-lethal rounds but still would hurt enough to at least disable or stun the intruder, like that bean bag thing, and a quarterstaff as backup. Yeah, a quarterstaff could kill if you hit in the right place, but a swift blow to a non-temple region of the head can knock out the intruder.
For Zombie Apocalypse, I'd likely use a Katana for close quarters, a Magnum for a sidearm, and an AK-47 for my main arm. Light and effective, which suits my combat style best.

In Kennesaw, Georgia it's the law that the head of every household must own a gun.

The billy club is much more suitable than a metal. Don't you think a metal is too hard enough? |

I just picked up a radical combat toothpick bootknife at the mall!
I've also got a wicked sweet guard dog on the way, but she's not very good at biting things yet, needs more practice.
