This is one hell of a cast list:

Johnny Depp ... The Mad Hatter
Anne Hathaway ... The White Queen
Michael Sheen ... The White Rabbit
Helena Bonham Carter ... The Red Queen
Alan Rickman ... The Caterpillar
Christopher Lee ... The Jabberwock
Stephen Fry ... The Cheshire Cat
Crispin Glover ... The Knave of Hearts

And that's just the names I recognized.

Alan Rickman as a caterpillar? Really? I refuse to see this movie if they put him in a costume that in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM resembles the caterpillar from those stupid Money Tree commercials:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd6tECh6ZXk (sorry, no embedding allowed on that vid.)

If they do something cool with the costume without making him look like an idiot, however, that's actually quite inspired casting. He's got the perfect "wHOOOO are you?" kind of voice.

Depp will be excellent as the Mad Hatter of course, and I'm really, really interested to see how the hell Christopher Lee is going to play a giant, horrible hellspawn, a la this one which gave me almost as many nightmares as a child as "Young Sherlock Holmes" did:

Speaking of Jabberwockies, fun fact: the Vorpal sword from the original FF was named after a weapon in Lewis Carol's nonsense poem. Aren't you glad you know that? (You can hear the first part of the poem in the vid above, as a matter of fact, although she stops before she gets to the Vorpal sword part.)

/Lit nerism.

I'm actually quite looking forward to this movie. I wasn't too happy with his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I think this is right up his alley. Alice in Wonderland, Burtonized will be incredible. If its even a tenth as good as Sweeny Todd, I'll be happy.

It makes a snicker-snack sound it does.

You can check imdb.com for the 2010 Alice to see the cast. Alice is played by an unknown, and given a last name.

Shit! I have to turn in my geek card now...I actually did not know that D&D had a Vorpal sword. Embarrassed

I'll be sure to check out IMDB though; this movie really is gonna be a kick.

You write about the new Alice in Wonderland movie and don't post any picture? Sheesh...

He ya go, prepare to be traumatized:

First we have Matt Lucas as both Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice:

Next, we have Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter as the Queen Of Hearts:

Finally, here's Anne Hathaway as the White Queen:

You missed my two favorites! The White Rabbit's garden (I guess) and the absolutely awesome Flower Garden concepts:

This would be way better if it were Tim Burton presents American McGee's Alice.

Thank you for channeling my thoughts. If Tim Burton can even come close to the American McGee game I'll love it.

I still think the best version of Alice was the Tom Petty video.

I think its attributed to how high her hairline is...and the creepily pursed lips.

Holy crap. Okay, that trailer looked pretty damn good.

Except for one minor thing: she's supposed to *float* down the rabbit hole, not fall so fast she smacks into the ground. Ah, well, nitpick nitpick nitpick...

Could they make the smile any bigger on the Chesire cat? It's like it's about to dislocate it's jaw to eat like a python or something.

And I like Depp and everything, but he looks WAY too much like Kathy Griffin.

I would've prefered a movie on Lewis Caroll's creepy life.
