PETA's fine. A society that just seems psyched about abusing animals is a pretty scary thought, but smacking one of the earth's billion houseflies, an act performed by all species is going overboard, not to mention their annoying methods of protest.

Like when they dressed up as the KKK or when they threw chicken blood on innocent bystanders at a KFC? PETA is fucking nuts, they have been for a long time. Since they breached into the Insect kindom pretty soon they are gonna tell us that cutting our grass or spraying weed killer on our grass is inhumane and detremental to the Dandelion population. They are a bunch of fucktards. They really should stick to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
I appreciate seing a president with fast enough reflexes that he can kill a fly. Can you imagine if G.W. tried. I bet the hilarity of him hurting himself would have been hysterical.

Whoa, I just learned something new. I always assumed it was at least a week or two. I'll be damned.
And in other news, Hawk has decided NOT to renew her PETA membership, unless they stop being fucktards. All signs point to no.

Quit being sanctimonious pricks please. It was just a funny fly swat. It's not like he read a childrens' book to a class full of kids for seven minutes after a terrorist attack. Thanks.

Flies don't count as animals. They are plague-carrying vermin. If that fly didn't wanna die, it should have stayed the fuck outside.

Cause the only thing worse than that would be if Bush DIDN'T finish reading the book to the kids. I can't even begin to imagine the shitstorm that would have ensued if that were the case.

What should have happened is that the secret service should have called him out of the room to tell him. It would have looked like he had a priority situation and he wouldn't have been to return.
Given that this is not what happened, his reaction was the wrong one at the time. He should have excused himself immediately.

GP, we agree! Although this was blown out of proportion, I do agree his reaction was puzzling. I don't hate the man, I just never thought he had the intelligence or skill to be a president. And that proved it, a lot. Other than that, the man himself wasn't a bad guy, I'm sure. I just didn't want him to be in charge of me and my country.
Same way I feel as though Obama, although extremely intelligent, got elected on a kind of bogus rock star sentiment. Popularity doesn't necessarily equate good judgement and skill, and this has been apparent in the last few months.

Glad to hear it Hawk, but for reasons other than PETA being annoying and stupid (which they are). There've been many reports of PETA funneling money to the ALF (Animal Liberation Front) and its members, not to mention cross-membership between the two groups. They also have been reported as having provided funds to the ELF (Earth Liberation Front).
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2004/aug/01/animalwelfare.world
http://epw.senate.gov/109th/Exhibit_11.pdf
http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/comment-smith100202.asp (Seven paragraphs down)
While I won't go so far as to say that support of PETA is akin to support of terrorism (I believe that probably most contributors to PETA are very well-intentioned individuals)... people should know about the monetary goings-on of PETA. And the ALF and ELF are not particularly warm and fuzzy groups.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

What could Bush have done in those extra seven minutes that wasn't done without him? For Christ's sake, the World Trade Center was already blown up. What the fuck was he going to do, activate the Sands of Time, go back 15 minutes and stop it from happening? Cuz that only works in Prince of Persia. I think it's funny that the people who criticize Bush for moving too quickly in his War on Terror are the same people who criticize him for not using those 7 minutes. You know, so he could have attacked the hell out of Afghanistan seven minutes sooner.
The War On Terror Should Have Moved Ahead Slowly and Carefully.... Except During Those Seven Minutes!
You can't fucking have it both ways. You bleeding heart liberals don't seem to understand that. You whine that people are starving to death on the streets, then you whine when Congress raises taxes to pay for its new Homeless People Shouldn't Starve To Death bill. Make up your fucking mind.

If by "War on Terror" you mean "War in Iraq" I don't ever recall anybody saying he moved too quickly on that.
I think that a) Congress should raise taxes to pay for it's Homeless people Shouldn't starve to death bill (though I can't help but feel it wouldn't tax the rich and would instead tax the people who are damn near homeless) and b) conservatives are only complaining because they aren't running the country, so they resort to temper tantrums.
Here's what I don't understand, people hate Democrats for spending too much, yet what did Bush do? Spend our surplus budget and put us trillions of dollars in debt.

There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant. |

Bush definitely spent way too much, which is why Ron Paul has become such a hit with young conservatives. Paul is pretty much the only guy in Washington preaching fiscal responsibility right now.
Honestly, in terms of fiscal responsibility, 1994-2000 was a golden age. Both President Clinton and the Republican Congress curbed spended an provided us with a budget surplus. Sure, a large part of that fiscal responsibility resulted from deadlock and Congress's crushing defeat of Clinton's grandiose national health care scheme, but it was fiscal responsibility nonetheless.
There is no question that Bush's spending was out of control. There are those who will say that you can't put a price on freedom and national security. I will not argue that you can't put a price on national security. However, I don't believe my dime should pay for a foreign country's freedom any more than I believe my dime should pay for some homeless guy's insulin. Did Bush's spending fuck us over to a significant extent? Absolutely. But unfortunately, President Barack refuses to give us the luxury to worry about how Bush's spending fucked us over, because everyday he wakes up and decides to make the problem massively fucking worse. Let's ask ourselves this: what is our current commander-in-chief doing to reign in spending and curb our national debt? The answer is absolutely nothing. President Barack was often depicted as running on a peace platform, but like Nixon before him, it is unlikely we will see peace within his first term. A lot of people don't realize this, but the president pledged to refocus our attention on Afghanistan, which means will be sending more troops there. He also promised to end military operations in Iraq, but that won't happen any time soon. At the end of the day, the president knows McCain was right; we absolutely do need to leave, but we need to so in a responsible fashion. So all that military spending we saw under Bush? You can forget about seeing that cut from the president's budget. On top of that we have bailouts, a costly job creation initiative, stimulus packages, and the threat of socialized health care. We couldn't afford to run two wars at once, and now we're piling more shit on top of that? GREAT IDEA! You know where the government is going to get money for that? It's pretty simple. The government is going to ram its dick up your ass over and over again until you vomit $100 bills.
