You know, I can't help but wonder if Nintendo hesitiated to use CD's because of how easily damageable they are.

CDs aren't that hard at all to keep, I have all of my PS1 games that I got new still in great condition with the cases and instructions as well.(Except Tekken 3, my dumbass friend broke the case when he was borrowing it.)

Sooo...did anyone read Optimist's link? No new Xbox, thank god. With games getting more and more expensive I think the big three really need to milk the current consoles for all they're worth.

Games are only more expensive because Sony and Microsoft set the price points higher. There's absolutely no reason that a new PS3 or 360 game should be $60 instead of $50.

Syd, it is because development costs for HD quality games are much higher. Everything requires more detail when you work with HD.

Processing tweaking requires more attention, 3D models need more details, and for the most part full surround sound needs to be provided, not just Dolby ProLogic's fake shit.

It's called denial. I don't think anyone understands this: If the CEO, who knows every fucking thing that goes on at his company at every time, slipped there's gonna be a new Xbox next year at an important business meeting, you can pretty much take those words to the grave. Even if it's just another 360 SKU with some other crap on it.

Regardless, Nintendo is going to have to drop a new console within the next year, year and a half.

They are going to have to upgrade to HD(times 2 as Syd said) once the PS3 hits its full stride.

yeah except PC games are the cheapest out there and have far larger texture maps and more detailed models. 720p by PC gaming standards is pretty weak.

Yes, but PC's don't have constrained hardware limitations and generally they don't have licensing fees like consoles do.
