My computer at work is unwilling/unable to open that link, but we've seen this with plenty of other games up until now as well.
I can't stand listening to people fight over which system is better between Xbox360 and PS3. The graphical difference is negligible, or in some cases the "inferior" machine seems to have the edge. Throw in the fact that 99% of games are available on both systems, and it's an assinine argument.
PS3 fanboys constantly bring up the Red Ring of Death (which honestly, isn't a big deal so long as Microsoft will fix it for free), while Xbox fans will bash the PS3's lack of good exclusives.
I've got an Xbox360 myself, and I'm perfectly happy with it. I'm just praying we get a version of MGS4.
In conclusion: Buy the system you want, then STFU

For reasons that have been discussed multiple times, MGS4 is not practical on the 360.
But, let's go over it one last time. MGS4 takes up an entire Blu-Ray disc, which is 50 GB. The 360 uses regular DVDs, which have a maximum capacity of 8.54 GB. Now, obviously a large part of the space MGS4 requires is due to the HD cutscenes, which would have to be compressed for the 360. But still, a 360 version of MGS4 would require AT LEAST three full DVDs, and that's impratical. We, as a gaming society, have moved past the point where we're willing to play games that require multiple discs. That shit was fine in the days of 5.25" floppy discs, right up through the heyday of the PS2, but we're done with it. If a game can't fit on one disc, it can't properly immerse us, and it's not worth playing.

Well I wasn't aware of those technical limitations, but honestly the switching of multiple disks wouldn't bother me that much. It would only happen once every so many hours......I can live with that.

The whole 360 vs. PS3 thing, is just a continuation of a pastime. It's been happening ever since the SNES vs. Genesis era, we had that then PS1 vs. N64, PS2 vs. GCN vs. Xbox, and now 360 vs. PS3.(The Wii isn't counted for reasons unknown most of the time, although it outsold both systems combined, but most of the animosity is between the Sony and Microsoft guys.)
Also from what I hear, MGS4 has to install itself four times on the PS3, which is basically the SAME EXACT THING, except longer and would've been easier with disc switching. To be honest though, I couldn't care less if MGS4 was ported as story-wise it's the worst of the four games, it's full of pure fan service and feels rushed as hell, like Kojima didn't feel like making another game.
But that's just me.

In my opinion the Wii doesn't get thrown into the mix of the console wars because it's so different. It's fans love it, while people who have one of the other systems just aren't that interested in it.
But I agree with you that multiple installations are just as inconvenient as switching disks. I guess everyone feels differently, but if getting up off the couch once every few hours is the price I have to pay for MGS4, I can live with that. It beats plunking down $650 for a PS3 + the one exlusive game I want.

Wow, when I saw those headlines about the 360 vs PS3 thing, I figured it'd be some very small difference, but yeesh.

See, I disagree. Look at Genesis vs. SNES. You had two systems that weren't all that different in terms of basic layout, but there were enough hardware differences that there were two VERY different libraries. As a result, it was very easy to justify owning both systems. Then you had the PS1/N64 era, the old format vs. the new. And while the N64 fought a losing battle, it had 4-player multiplayer and enough exclusives that it was able to stay competitive. So you could again justify owning both.
And now you've got Wii/PS3/360. The Wii is completely different from the other two systems. The Wii has its own unique library. Then you've got the PS3 and 360. How many times do you see a game commercial, and then at the bottom you see it's for 360/PS3/PC? Pretty much all the time. Which means that PC/PS3/360 are in direct competition for your money. All three are trying to convince you that they're the best platform for a given game. Meanwhile, Wii is offering something completely different. If you want to play 90% of the A-List titles that come out every year, you're going to need a Wii and either a 360/PS3.

I didn't know that MGS4 took up so much space just to include HD cutscenes. After seeing this I think I'll just stick to the PS2 version unless they cut out some extras, in which case I'll just borrow my brother's 360.

That's why I just said screw it and bought all of the above. I've even got a collection of 360's going at the moment, I'm up to 3 of them. Gotta love craigslist! People get one RRoD on their system and chuck it out if it's out of warranty instead of just paying 8.00 for parts from home depot to fix it. Picked up the last one for 40 dollars, fixed it and took it in for a Halo edition

Is there any chance that's fake? I have no stake in the current gen of consoles whatsoever, don't even own one, but it seems REALLY odd to me that the differences are so pronounced. I mean, the PS3 looks like something I play on my PS2. I'm almost willing to call shenanigans here, until someone sets me straight and explains how its totally not a hoax.

I don't know, I wouldn't care how many discs it came in as long as they actually ported it, but that's just me. I'm a pretty big fan of the MG series, and simply porting it to begin with would satisfy me.

Frankly I don't care about the graphics, as long as it's fun I'll be happy. Besides it's online play, so I don't really care.
And by the way, you may not get MGS4 on X-Box, but we both are getting MGS: Rising which is the second MGS game to get on a microsoft system.

Hawk, it doesn't seem to be fake. I have no way to verify it, but the site that made the claims does this for lots of games and they seem to be very fair about how they review.
As for the PS3 vs XBOX 360, they both lose.
The PS3 is too expensive and the XBOX doesn't have a web browser. Therefore I refuse to buy either. I am writing this from my multimedia PC on a high def 40" TV. I have been playing games for a few weeks like this and prefer STEAM and the computer to any console*.
* I have been enjoying Tiger Woods 10 though... I guess I enjoy the Wii too
