Fuck you for posting that, GP. FUCK YOU. This thing has gotten HUGE coverage in the mainstream media. Do you know what ISN'T getting coverage? Obama was talking about how he intends to have the government take over ever aspect of America's financial sector.

But yeah, clearly swatting a fly is the fucking news story. I'm sick of the liberals' fucking media circle jerk over Obama.

Seriously. Iran's at the brink of civil war, North Korea is threatening to lob test missiles at Hawaii, Obama's proposing even more massive spending and regulation, ABC is becoming an extension of the government by showing a hour filled with propaganda over Health Care straight from the White House with no voice from the opposition, and Tom Brokaw, who just recently interviewed Obama, is getting a job from him , and the media is devoting a chunk of time to this. Yeesh, flame on. All GP wanted to do was share an amusing video, no reason to jump down his throat. At the risk of sounding like a backseat moderator here, wouldn't it have made more sense to make a separate topic dedicated to the issues addressed by Cattivo and Jeebus instead of flaming the hell out of GP?

Absolutely not. If they were presented separately, people could ignore the ACTUAL issues, just like they're doing now. The other thread would die after 5 posts and this one would go on sucking Obama's dick.

I'm not so sure about that. If anything, it seems like this thread wouldn't go on for long just because there's not actual discussion going on outside of "this is awesome" or "this is funny", etc. However, a quick search for "Obama" shows quite a few threads that go on for two or more pages, and given the overall political spectrum of the forums, I don't think it would be unreasonable that a thread about the current political situation would go on for a while, certainly more than five posts.

+1. I was actually just in the process of hunting down this video to post cause it made me laugh. Its *funny*. And it certainly doesn't warrant a "fuck you" for posting it for Christ's sake.

If anything we should be ridiculing PETA. They apparently have a problem with it. Who cares if it's fluff? If you honestly don't know whats going on with the government in this country, you need to move. I'm just glad it's not another Chapter 11 filing or how China fired off a Nuke at us. Wait, PETA? PETA has a problem with that? God dammit. I'm a member myself (the card sits in my wallet right next to my NRA card...how's that for juxtaposition?), and have been for many years, but they've been pissing me off lately. Very, very tempted not to renew membership, and mines up this year.

Since we're *actually* back on topic now, I'm going to say that my favorite part of the whole video was Obama's reaction. I mean, having the camera guy actually film the dead fly cracked me up.

PETA referred to the fly-swatting as an "execution", and would like President Obama to show more compassion to even the "least sympathetic of animals". PETA even went so far as to send the President a "Katcha Bug", which captures insects so they can be safely returned to nature.

Yeah, it's not like this is a new thing for the American news media; it's almost all fluff all the time, if you want to know the real stories, you need to research it yourself. And while this is not conducive to educating the American populace on current events, the sad fact is that the majority of people don't care about the real news and are more entertained by a fluff piece about Obama whacking a fly.

Our species existence is riddled with difficult life altering choices that politicians must make on a regular basis. Every day that goes by sees the results of our leader's actions impacting the world in positive and negative ways. The seriousness of these efforts is not trivial since the quality or assurance of life often hangs in the balance.

But, it takes a very unique perspective to conclude that my original post was politically motivated. If the original post infuriates a person so much that they become exasperated, I strongly urge them to shut off the news and take a vacation.

As I have said again and again in the video game forum, it's to the point where you can't talk about a game coming without having a dick measuring contest about consoles. And it's same with politics you can't mention ANY story involving the presidents brings outrage. I understand that the conservatives on this board are in the minority and you want your voice heard but complaining about a fluff isn't the way to go about it.

Oh and on topic Peta should also choose their battles they are seeming more and more like a nutjob group then people who want to do something good.
