Well, given that the movie was financially backed by Nintendo and was basically a 90 minute commercial for Super Mario Bros. 3, all the mistakes are pretty embarassing.
Yes, but nobody from nintendo wrote the script. They had a hollywood writer do it, who probably never had played videogames, and had a cheat sheet of game notes to use.

I still remember watching this movie when I was nine and when they showed Super Mario Bros 3 I couldn't believe it. I was like "How are they playing this...its not even out yet." Or "They are making a new Mario game!"

There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.
This movie single-handedly convinced me (between the ages of 9 and 13) that getting to the video game championships in California was the ultimate goal in life.
