Anyone been watching The Tonight Show With Conan O'brien? I watched the first episode and the one last night, and it seems like they spend the majority of the show screwing around (which is AWESOME). I was worried that when he moved to the Tonight Show that it would be terrible, but it's still hilarious.

Been watching and dvr'ing every ep so far. My softball game being canceled last night helped. I've waited years for him to move to 10:30.

After the first ep, it's felt like a transplanted Late Night.

What in the hell does that have do with anything? It's not live. He doesn't air at 8:30 PST.

Disregard that.

Edit: Wait... I was right. Most shows tend to air simultaneously in Eastern and Central time zones due to the way the networks are structured.

It's shown at 10:30 in the Central Time Zone Syd. The Tonight Show has always been at that time here...Silly Eastern Time Zone boy. That's the same policy that has prime time for us start at 7pm. Conan was on at 11:30 in Chicago the whole time he was hosting Late Night.

You seriously need to do some traveling Syd.

If I travelled, I'd likely go to the West Coast, where they have the same TV schedule, except for live stuff.

That's weird that your primetime is 7-10 instead of 8-11. There's really no need for it to be that way, nor has there been since at least the 80s.

That's funny. I thought the whole point of the site was to embrace most, if not all, things 80s. Smile

I was saying that by the 80s, technology had advanced to the point where wonky Central/Mountain scheduling had been rendered obsolete.

People are resistant to change (except in politics Wink ). There's never even been a push for the scheduling to sync with the other zones. Personally, I like it. Things finish earlier, letting you have more sleep.

(And as far as I know, we're the only time zone that does this. Prime time still starts at 8pm in the Mountain Zone, I believe.)

Where I live, the standard USA network is on Pacific Time, but the HD feed of USA is on eastern time, so I can watch HD WWE Raw at 6PM instead of having to wait till 9pm. So, even in the digital world of television, they still can't sync up times based on timezone yet.

If I ever got to talk to Conan I would mispronounce his name.

He talked about the Super Mario Bros background on Friday, it was pretty good.

Oh I know lol. I was just being a complete ass for no particular reason. Very Happy

The Conan clips with Mario are awesome, and the audience reaction is almost better than the bit itself. Conan really is cooler than I've given him credit for. (I'm embarrassed to say I wasn't really a fan until the 'feud' he had with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.)

Well, glad to know you eventually got on the train SH. I've been with Conan since his first ep in 93 when I was just 13 years old. I'm a lifer. Very Happy

I never really got into any late night talk show for whatever reason; never really had the interest. I still don't watch them religiously, but Conan is now worth looking for highlights/episodes of.

I stayed up really late on night and saw "Waste some time with Frankenstein" and I've been hooked ever since.

Relax man, they're only in the second week and there's already been some bits they've done on Late Night.
