According to MSN, Tetris turns 25 years old this week.

Well, what else can I say? That game is a classic and will continue to be one for years to come.

And it'll be re-released a hundred times more, no matter what the system.

Well! That's a big deal. In honor of that, I present:

Yay Tetris!

I might play Tetris DS tonight to celebrate this occasion.

In fact, I wonder if E3 is going to acknowledge this.

I wonder if our resident Pink Tetris Block knows about this.

I've been considering getting this game for quite a while now, but I've wondered whether it's worth a buy. Should I get it?

If anything, you should get it for the wireless gameplay.

I could have sworn I read something somewhere about how the guys who made Tetris died in some sort of murder suicide thing, but now that I'm looking for it I can't find it anywhere on the web. WTF? Confused

Except one guy made Tetris, and that was Alexei Pajinov (and I probably butchered the spelling of his name).

I've seen a bunch of different spellings from different games. Wiki shows Alexey Leonidovich Pajitnov as his name, but different versions probably spring up through mistransliterations.

Haha, my roommates are actively competing in Tetris on Wii behind me as I type this. Tetris is almost less a videogame and more a cultural phenomenon.

Wow. I know Nintendo jacks their prices, but that seems a little extreme don't you think?

I've only done the single player stuff so far, but it seems fairly costed for all the stuff you're getting (about 5 game modes for single player alone).

You mean $12.00, or 1200 Wii Points, right?

My mother actually used to play Tetris all the time before she got too sick to play it any more. My grandmother also played it for a while back when I originally got the Gameboy. Neither ever played any other video games to my knowledge, so Tetris was very popular with the women in my house.

Edit:

Its nice they are paying tribute, but I think they could have done the logo better. You can barely make out that it is supposed to say Google.
