This really makes sense to me though because disgust is disgust, whether it be a physical object or the accepted actions of a population.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that's entirely true. Gore turns my stomach pretty easily, but I'm definitely not a conservative.

Although, after just watching "Event Horizon" again for the first time in a while, I can say it makes me uncomfortable not because its gross, but because I feel horrible for the poor people getting killed/mutilated/whatever. Come to think of it, gore from actual medical stuff *doesn't* gross me out at all. So maybe this works after all.
