Laughing Very well done! I've never tried with save states; I was never that determined to beat it (at least I haven't been since I was nine...but I didn't have the ability back then, either lol.) I think I got a bit into the level with the Turtle Van, and that's it. Oh well.

Congrats on completing a game that takes no small amount of patience!

I'm guessing the Damn level was funny. Oh and did you know that you can walk across small gaps:

yeah, i know your pain. I rented it a long time ago and after the experience of the gap, i had to turn it off. I applaud you good sir, you have more patients and determination then i do.

Lmao dude that video is pretty much the reason I wanted to try and beat it. I mean with save states i'm guessing pretty much any game is beatable, but if it's like that crazy game I dunno if i'll have the patience ever again. I'd be embarrassed if someone were taping me while I was playing tmnt, I dropped more swears than I have in a long time.

I could never get past that dang underwater part of the second level. It would really help if the time limit wasn't so short and you actually had room to navigate through those, er, poisonous clusters of seaweed.

When I saw Rolfe explain the gap walking thing I thought back to my years of frustration as a child and died a little inside. Mad

I have to second this, although part of my heart was saved by the fact I actually DID find a way to jump up there, so I didn't have to repeat the whole section every time I fell (although I did that plenty of times before I figured out the trick.)

Wanna know the funniest thing about this game? I killed Shredder in like 5 hits without him touching me. I swear the first boss was harder.

Does it piss you off to know that Not Sure can beat this game using his left foot without dying in under 10 minutes?

Seriously, people, you regard this as some Herculean task. I've never had trouble with the dam.

Well there is no denying it's a pain in the ass to beat, certainly brings the rage out in me.

Even more so is Super Ghouls n Ghosts, I think that game is the hardest game I've ever encountered. It's so infuriating because there is only 1 check point per level.

Actually, I believe that's the easiest game in the series, and the one checkpoint thing is of the norm until Stage 6. I'd say Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the hardest.

Whatever, all the ghouls n ghosts games and tmnt 1 are ridiculously hard.

Are you secretly that cocky video game kid with the power glove and the fancy haircut in The Wizard?

TMNT was hard during my kid years, but after getting used to going through the Dam level and knowing how to get passed that damn gap on the skyscrapers in level 3, it became moderately easy. I can beat it regularly now.

Pretty sure that's impossible, as the official record holder is around twenty minutes or so. Especially since to get the record you have to die in order to ignore having to go back to the entrance to levels and get the best time.

Beating a game with save states doesn't count unless you use them in places where you could come back to anyway (with SRAM or passwords) regardless of lives or continues, and TMNT has neither of those. It's not a bad method for practice those later levels as I used to die in Stage 3 a lot, but don't claim a victory via cheating; it's very empty.

That's my view anyway.

I was 4 when the Wizard came out. I just have more free time than any one person should.

When I was a kid I loved that game up until the dam level, I always ended up losing a turtle there. Is it just me or does his cursing sound really forced most of the time? His review is spot on however I can't help but feel that he sounds so akward whenever he tries to say "fuck".

Lol the reason I made the thread is to show that I cheated and how stupidly hard it still was. I don't think in the original post I said "woooo I beat TMNT, in your face".

AVGN has that effect at times, but when he's James Rolfe he has alot of good vids. Not to say AVGN isn't good, it's just at it's best when he's in his normal tone.

Makes sense. I really enjoy watching his reviews, it's kind of strange actually. Whenever I'm not job hunting I end up watching "Let's play" and AVGN nowadays, aside from being solid videos I don't know why I keep watching them...

I enjoy his vids too, he's a good reviewer as long as he doesn't get overly obnoxious.
