Shocked ...Holy fuck.

Patrick Stewart better be Dracula, though.

So, Captain Jean-Luc Picard will be narrating it.

Or at least, he narrated the trailer for it.

I've got mixed feelings here. One on hand, Kojima's involved, but on the other hand, it's a 3D Castlevania.

Exactly. It's pretty, but at the same time, it looks like a God Of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Hevenly Sword clone. Castlevania should stay a side scrolling series. You can put state of the art 3d graphics in it, just keep it a side scrolling platformer....Please.

As far as I am concerned, Castlevania only continues to truly live on the DS.

Looks pretty cool and I also have nothing against 3D Castlevanias; I enjoyed Curse of Darkness and Lament of Innocence quite a bit. And who doesn't love Patrick Stewart.

pretty compelling trailer. The last two 3d releases for ps2 and xbox were pretty good overall, but I agree with Sathian; the 2d are superior and the 3d previous to lament and curse were kind of shitty.
Definitely will check this out though.

I dont get why a lot of people don't like the 3-d casevania games. I could care less if it was a side scroller. I liked symphony of night but I liked curse of darkness just as much

The N64 ones are boiled shit. I haven't tried the Playstation 2 ones yet, but I hear Lament of Innocence is decent.

Lament of Innocence is downright boring. I've had a TON of fun with Curse of Darkness, though. I don't see why people give it so much crap.

Between the two I've considered getting Curse of Darkness, but I'm so backloaded on games (mostly RPGs at that) that I'll have to pass.

Incorrect. Either Christopher Lee or Frank Langella should be Dracula.

Lament of Innocence looked decent enough however the levels were predictable and the bosses unimaginative. From what I've seen Curse of Darkness looks like a decent 3D Castlevania. As stated earlier though the N64 games were horrible. This game looks great, as long as it doesn't fall prey to the "flat" feel of Lament of Innocence it should rock, now I just have to find a way to borrow my brother's 360....

Lament of Innocence had some things going for it in my opinion, but some serious flaws.

On the positive side, the combat was quite fun, and the special weapons were fun to use.

Negatives:
--The real-time item selection was a pain in the ass
--The camera sucked
--The levels were far too repetitive, and forced you to backtrack endlessly so as to make the game appear longer
--You could basically just run through every room without ever fighting the enemies
--It was a pain in the ass having to go back outside the castle to buy stuff from the merchant (forget his name)
--Not enough variety in weapons/ability to upgrade your weapons

It frustrates me because I've always loved Castlevania. By all rights, it should be one of the heavy hitters in the gaming world. I wish they could finally get their shit together and make a decent game. I don't particularly care whether it's 2D or 3D......I don't believe that's what will make the game rule or suck. They just need to stop half-assing it.

Lament of Innocence was too short, especially since I was used to having another whole castle open up about halfway through most Castlevania games, I was like "That's it?" The secret boss (whose name I forget) chained up in the dungeon was cool and Joachim was probably the coolest "secret" character for a second run through that any of the games had. The graphics were also really pretty and the music was good, but when you can beat it in two days, all that is kinda secondary.

Curse of Darkness at least had the weapon forging system which kept you searching for rare materials for awhile.

I don't like the original 64 game as much as I used to, but the one with Cornell was pretty awesome.

Kojima is the second most overrated video game maker around, for the life of me I do not get the appeal of MGS. He's a reluctant video game maker, and earnestly desires to make films. He subscribes to his own superiority on this mark, and like most slaves of the old school of thought considers human interaction a bane of both story and true art and so he misses the fundamental nature of video games. Video Games are action and reaction to the environment presented, the strongest stimulus available by way of being founded in the reality of consequence. From what I understand the best parts of his games are the discovery of consequence for actions that normally are innocuous, like guards discovering your footprints in snow or the like. Its certainly not mechanics(which splinter cell did better) or story(which is a notorious clusterfuck).

Excuse the diatribe.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I don't blame you or other MGS-haters for feeling that way. The cut scenes are definitely long and frequent. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

That said, I don't understand why so many people have bashed MGS4 for these reasons (I haven't played it yet....hoping it comes out for Xbox360). If you've played the previous 3 games, you know what you're getting into. You've had enough evidence by now to know that there's going to be extensive cutscenes. If you don't like it, don't play it. It's not really a legitimate gripe in my eyes.

Bashing MGS4 for having cutscenes is like bashing Kevin Costner for making a bad movie.
