AW: Dual Strike just added more CO's, combat on both screens, space warfare and an RTS mode, which ends up not working as well as it should. I have been playing AW since the original game, I just found Dual Strike to be boring. I also thought Days of Ruin's soundtrack was pretty face rockin' and not generic at all.
And about Space Invaders Extreme 2 vs 1, it's just better. New scoring system, more trippiness, etc.

I've played since Advance Wars 2 and have the original. I just like Days of Ruin because it's more of a real war setting, as apposed to the happy go lucky "yay I blew up his tank, people died but we're havin' fun!" thing.
I own Dual Strike and Days of Ruin, need to play more of Dual Strike befor I can judge which is better. I will agree that I though most of the characters in DoR were retarted. The cadet guy who is the man character and that girl who lost her memory, I just couldn't really care much less about them.
I will definately check out some of these games if I can get them for cheap. I cna get Metal Slug 7 for 20$, is that worth it?

Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, particularly good if you're up for a brutal dungeon crawler
The World Ends With You: Kinda strange music, but a fantastic battle system and storyline
Jump Superstars: Fantastic Shonen Jump SSB style game if you can import it
Trauma Center: Under the Knife, crazy hard after a while, but a great showcase of what the DS was originally made for
The first 2 Castlevania games are great, I haven't gotten around to playing the 3rd though
Sonic Chronicles is a decent enough game if you can find it cheap
Brothers in Arms DS isn't as personal as the console versions but I thought it was a fantastic third person shooter
In the contest between Days of Ruin and Dual Strike, I'll have to side with the elder of the two, it got me through a full term of TA-ing my junior year
If you could consider these hidden gems, Dragon Quest IV and V
and to round things off, Final Fantasy IV, which was kind of brushed aside since it was just remade about 3 years ago
There's a few more but I can't remember them off the top of my head

I really enojoyed Orcs & Elves, which belive it or not, is a game by id Software. (Makers of the DOOM series) It plays very much like the old 3d dungeon crawling games like the Eye Of The Beholder series or Dungeon Master.
You could probably find it cheap.

| Golden Sun DS was announced at E3. Considering you have a DSi and can't play GBA games on it, I'm curious if they'll offer transfer stuff like the first game did with the second (or if you'll have to find a friend with a DS and start a new file with theirs to transfer). |
Why would GS3 need that? It should be an entirely new story, as GS2 concluded the original story pretty definitively. But if that were the case, GS1&2 let you either use the GBA link or use a password system to transfer your data. I don't see why this would be any different.
Someone mentioned Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory. I'm not sure if those are really hidden gems. Both games, especially Trace, were hyped pretty heavily upon their initial release. Trace was a launch title, IIRC, or very close to it.
As for the games, I'd highly recommend Hotel Dusk, but would be less inclined to recommend Trace. Both games are story-intensive point and click adventures that make full use of the DS hardware, but many of the puzzles in Trace are very basic to the point where it feels like a tech demo. To an extent it is; it was developed by a company that was exploring the potential of an untested new platform. Hotel Dusk, on the other hand, is fantastic. It's more stylish, more difficult, and the story is cooler. Both games require a lot of careful reading and a good memory though, so if you don't like reading, don't play either.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the password system. Having rewatched the ending to Golden Sun 2, I suppose you could have a new cast of heroes (though the kid in at least part of the trailer looked like Isaac to me). I wouldn't mind it if somehow Alex managed to find a way to survive and become the BBEG at the end.

Lots of people have been talking about Hotel Dusk, I think I am going to check it out. I am always balls deep in RPGs and an English major, reading is not much of a problem.
