Yeah, VG Cats....drawing-wise, the guy's got talent.
But as far as the stuff he writes....well it tends to be hit and miss in my opinion. And this one kinda missed.

yeah. Uh, well, I'm a proud gamecube owner, but if ANYTHING, the gamecube died a long time ago. I was one of the unlucky ones who purchased a broadband adapter in hopes of a steady stream of online games. All i got was an RPG that i already played on the dreamcast, and then a fucking card game based on that rpg. Along with a total lack of online games, most exciting games released for the XBOX and PS2 were rarely ported to the gamecube, and few GC exclusives were enough to catch most peoples attention (with the huge exception of zelda: TWW and Resident evil 4, which i believe was eventually ported to other systems if i am not mistaken?)
In the end,the gamecube had a hell of a lot of potential, but thanks to nintendo's unfortunate bias twords a younger audience, and a lack of developer interest, It was a failed system. Sad, but true.
now,about this comic, I am not a VG cats fan,as they are usually pretty unfunny,and grasp at recent events and topical humor to get laughs. A lack of plot, and the artists unfortunate bias twords topical humor make this a failed comic. True. (not sad though)

teh broadband adapter is great for palying illegal downloads on the gamecube.
you can download pirated games o the internet and have them stream to your gamecube throught the broadband adapter.

You know, I thought it looked more like a Genesis, but I didn't understand why the Gamecube's parents would be a SNES and Genesis when there was an entire generation (technically 2) of consoles between the 16-bit era and Gamecube. Besides, how could a Sega system be the Gamecube's father?

a lot of gamecube games were ports of games from prior sega syatems.
mostly dreamcast and saturn games though...

That's true. Sega, along with Namco, were Nintendo biggest backers during the GCN era. All three companies even teamed up to release a special arcade version of Mario Kart.

I think it's more meant to be a figurative "father" of the next generations of gaming than a literal one. The SNES and Genesis beget the N64, Saturn, etc. Then the dreamcast and gamecube, etc. I dunno. But hey, you already knew that!

I think its more that the idea of a family of videogame consoles is funny, and teh gamcube dying now that wii is out is funny when brought into a literal fashion. it's also funny to pont out "by the way, zelda is on gamecube too.... oops, too late!"

I'm replaying Mario Sunshine right now, and I know that the GCN failed as a COMPETITIVE system, it's still a shitload of fun to play.

It's a comic about videogames. There's nothing 'figurative' about it. The SNES and Geni are old systems, the GC is a new(ish) system, hence why it's the son. It's not saying shit about Sega games for Nintendo consoles, or the life of the SNES or Geni. There's nothing to it. There's nothing else to deduce, stop trying. You're not going to find some sort of hidden meaning in it. There isn't any.
It's a comic about videogames.
