Ouch. I love Inafune's games even if they're basically the same game over and over, that's just me though.

That's true. Regardless of how many games he helps create I'll always look into them. I wear some pretty thick rose-colored shades.

Maybe, wrong and wrong. Go do 100 coins in Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride and get back to me about difficulty.

You couldn't have named any harder stars to get in those games. In tick tock clock, its almost as if you have to gather the coins one by one.

I'm just being antagonistic because I'm sick of people whining that they don't like Sunshine.

I got 120 stars on the original, on emulators, on the VC and got all 150 on the DS version. Its not soo impressive a feat.

Oh. I've never complained about that game. I remember playing Sunshine on a friends Gamecube, and I didn't hate it, I actually enjoyed the first couple of stars or so...just not enough to buy the actual game.

I don't think there's even anybody complaining about Sunshine in this thread.

I guess I'm being antagonistic becaus of that Wizard "100 greatest video games" list that completely left out any N64 games. It reminds me of one of the people at my Gamer's Guild who doesn't like any N64 games, including Ocarina Of Time. His reason? It took him an hour to find the Kokori sword.

I'd shit in his mouth for it, but I have too much dirt on me which that clique knows about as is.

Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed Sunshine, it was by no means easy and required a nice level of skill.

The water backpack FLUDD really functioned well as an extension of Mario and really added a new element to his jumping game.

I like the new suits that NSMBWii has showed so far. Especially the penguin suit, as it kind of calls back to Mario's furry-ism with the Tanooki Suit.

Mario 64 is a great game but I agree with Syd in that it was glitchy, easy (yes, even the 100-coin stars in the later levels) and stuff. That doesn't make it bad, however.

Sunshine was also a great game, but I always found the controls to be kind of awkward and I hated the camera in that one. I liked FLUDD, but I wasn't a fan of how Yoshi was implemented either, hopefully he won't die whenever he touches water in Galaxy 2. Seems like in NSMBW he's similar to how he was in World which is a good thing.

Galaxy is the best one of the bunch I think.

Hell, the fact that Yoshi will be in this game is enough of a reason to buy this game for me. Very Happy

I, for one, was disappointed in Sunshine. The game bored me after a short while, unlike Mario 64. Super Mario Galaxy, however, kicked ass. I highly anticipate this sequel, although I hope they omit the Spring Mario uniform. Ugh, those parts were a pain. Besides the Spring Man uniform, Super Mario Galaxy was perfect IMO!

I'll be buying this game as soon as it gets released. Very Happy

I guess when you've done "In Space", your only option is to either do crossovers, or do "In Space" again.

In all seriousness, though, I have barely touched Sunshine and I haven't even played Galaxy yet. I have both of those sitting downstairs. What the hell is wrong with me?

Mario 64: Great game, if you are good at regular Mario 2D platformers you will probably find it easy. Personally I am better at 3D games than I am at 2D ones and camera and game control count for a huge part of the experience. Mario 64 brought a lot of great stuff, but without better controls I felt it was too hard to follow and tedious to complete.

Mario Sunshine: Play Control was improved 1000% when compared to Mario 64. I really liked the game for about 4-5 levels. Then I realized how fucking lame it is to carry around a water pack and wash paint stains. This game had good control, good camera, and terrible content.

Mario Galaxy: This was the first Mario game in 3D where play control, game control and story all met together in a brilliant experience. It is new, so you won't have the same nostalgic love for it that you did when you first played any of the original Mario games, however as a game, it is the best I have ever played.

Mario Galaxy 2: It looks like they might be capitalizing on the Galaxy engine and producing additional content. I hope they don't get too gimmicky with the suits and instead focus on levels that are creative, unique, and fun. Only time will tell, but I am excited to see what is released. I will buy this game the day it is released.

Should a game that is utilizing a previously built engine be cheaper for the public to purchase? I think Galaxy 2 should be around $30.00. I'm not saying it's not as good of a game as the first, but there probably wasn't as much work involved to create it.

Like a million games have used the Unreal 3 engine, from actioners to RPGs. If that were the case, those games should be like $5-$10.

I would expect any games that come out after the original to be more polished and have better/more content in order to warrant the "new game" price.

Normally this is the case when Nintendo releases a second product on an engine.

Well, I just read an interview on IGN with Miyamoto talking about NSMBW and Galaxy 2. This little bit here got me excited.

This should interest those who are preemptively bitching that Galaxy 2 looks to akin to its predecessor.

Miyamoto wrote:
More than 90 percent of what you will see in Super Mario Galaxy 2 is all brand new. Maybe even 95 percent. Miyamoto talks over the trailer. Galaxy 2 contains roughly the same amount of content as the original.

Also, Syd was right..

Miyamoto wrote:
Galaxy 2 is very, very far along, but since we [Nintendo] have New Super Mario Bros. Wii, we're going to hold off and keep Galaxy 2 for next year

Boo-urns..

Still, this game is going to be fantastic.

NSMBW is the worst acronym ever. Might as well just spell it out.

I agree its horrible, for that matter I hate the "new" super mario bros. moniker in general. I wish the title was slightly more inspired and therefore appealing, something like Super Mario Universe or something like that, I dunno.

Anyways, that's all semantic at this point, despite my disdain for it, writing NSMBW is significantly less writing than New Super Mario Brothers Wii, so that is how I will roll.

BUMP

Another long bump, but more good news from Nintendo's Media Summit today.

This title will be shipping May 23! They also had a gorgeous new trailer to show off, I must say that this is looking very good so far.

Looks fun! One of those levels looks like Gravity Man's from Mega Man 5.
