Yep, believe it or not. I own a VHS copy that I bought from a rental store, and it's the only movie I've ever seriously considered burning.

"Burning" as in smashing the cassette, tearing up the tape, setting the box on fire, putting it out with urine, and throwing the remains in a lake... except for one piece you keep for yourself as a trophy?

Or simply burning to DVD? Wink

I always liekd godberg for this very reason actually.

eric bischoff said it best on the monday night wars:

"here's a guy with absoloutely NO talent, and ti was brilliant. we had him come out, shot him wiht sparks, he breathed fire, made his way down to the ring, spear, jackhammer, one, two, three, and he was back in the locker room in seven minutes... and people LOVED IT!"

probably teh same reason I'm such a booster gold fan I suppose.

Now that's the kind of overkill I like! Very Happy

And no, I would never burn (copy) a DVD of that... "film". That'd be like propagating the Ring virus. Wink

I've got nothing to say on the movie. I just wanted to post to this thread before the entire forum gets locked out. Granted, this post will probably be deleted by Jeebus before any of you read it. Oh well.

This Is A Joke ...if only. Confused

Anyone who can lift the Big Show has at least some talent. I always liked Goldberg because he was the antithesis of Stone Cold. On the one hand, you had a drunken out-of-shape wife-beating hillbilly who could barely walk and on the other hand you had Goldberg, the big tough Jewish guy who always did the right thing.

My favorite Goldberg thing was his guest appearance on The Man Show where he taught Adam and Jimmy about Hannukah.

Cattivo, ask your friend how the hell magic use in a book promotes devil worship. I think it's a bunch of bullshit put forth by the church to control morons. Hell, if it's the fact that it allows people to do superhuman things, than anyone who can use a fax machine is the devil.

Then again, I'm Italian, too, so I guess you may be right.

In previous debates he's said that magic implicitly is a request for the devil to bend the natural laws in your favor. This is from the same guy who thinks tons people are conducting black masses all over the country, and last year got a huge tattoo of St. Archangel Michael on his shoulder. He's a good guy, just a little too hardcore when it comes to religion.

Wouldn't that just be the "Archangel Michael?" He was never a mortal, so he never became a saint. I could be wrong, I know very little about catholic mythology.

Yeah, Harry Potter is the devil. If he was, then he wouldn't be such a pussy.

Your friend sounds like he's waaaaay too religious.

He's a saint. People call him St. Michael, St. Archangel Michael, Archangel Michael, etc. There's even a Serbian Orthodox church in Lansing, IL. called St. Archangel Michael.

Yep. Fun guy nevertheless. Good sense of humor. Obsessed with the Simpsons. I don't know how he can still watch that show though. I had been with it since the Ulman Shorts in '87, but all the repeated storylines finally got me to stop watching a year or two ago. There's just so many times I can watch episodes about Homer and Lisa learning to understand each other or Homer and Marge having yet another marital crisis. I wanted to watch the show until it ended, but that doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. I own seasons 1-8 on dvd, and I'm not getting anymore. Season 9 has that awful episode where Skinner isn't really Skinner, and that torturous all-singing clip show.

Now there's a digression. Now we're even further off topic. Um, Black Christmas looks good. Especially Dawn,...I mean Michelle Trachtenberg. There. Fixed.

Seconded on the Simpsons thing, although I haven't watched in a few years.

You know what episode started the downfall for me? The one where the ending had the rival gangs fighting on the Simpsons' front lawn and it ends with the Yakuza member crashing through the window, apologizing, and heading back into the fray. The ending was just so random (which I don't usually mind) but from then on the writers decided they'd put in a bunch of non sequiturs in every episode for shits and giggles. They aren't as good at it as Seth MacFarlane.

Now it's just terrible.

Oh, and as for Black Christmas...

Yeah, the ridiculous, nonsensical endings didn't help either. The end of that Lord of the Flies parody episode comes to mind as the worst, with the voiceover: "Let's say they were all eventually rescued, by I don't know...Moe?"

Chabert's in that movie too? Sweet.

I kinda liked that ending. And the one that ends with Homer and Lisa Jr. about to die and then it cuts to Betty White panhandling for FOX while Bender and Mulder are taking calls.

The Simpsons episode where I officially gave up on the series was the Frank Grimes Jr. episode.

Back to Michael, and I don't mean that crappy John Travolta movie...

"Catholic and Orthodox Christians often refer to the angel Michael as "Saint Michael", an honorific title that does not indicate canonisation. He is generally referred to in Christian litanies as "Saint Michael the Archangel". Orthodoxy accords him the title Archistrategos, or Supreme Commander, of the Heavenly Hosts." ~ wikipedia

The bad endings in the Lord of the Flies ep and the Missionary ep are just examples of bad writing to me. What's the point of watching something that doesn't have a logical conclusion? When something doesn't have a concrete ending, it makes everything else pointless, and shows that they're out of ideas. Although, I do have to admit there's a few good quotes in those eps, such as Ralph's "Go banana!" and "It tastes like burning.", and Homer's "Save me Jebus!"

Not to mention:

"Elmo knows where you live!"
"It's a beautiful day... to kick your ass!"
"I'm not NOT licking poison frogs."

To everyone that said Simpsons now suck: I'm with Syd and RobotGumshoe...
I still love it.

I mean come on, the show's been on since 1989, you'd expect this to happen.
