I liked the Sonic Games as a kid, but for some reason I never felt the need to go beyond that. I also felt the Sega advertising campaign was obnoxious as hell. Just because you make more noise doesn't mean your games are better.
Also you can already play as Knuckles in Sonic 2. All you had to do was insert the Sonic 2 cartridge on top of the Sonic & Knuckles Cartridge.

The video games themselves always spurred my console purchases. I bought genesis because it had a lot of cool games on it, including Road Rash. Then Star Fox came out and I loved it, so I eventually got an SNES too. Later I was happy with PSX, but then Goldeneye came out, so I then had to buy the N64 also.
I was pretty anti-Genesis when I was a kid, I was always debating who had the superior console with my friend Mike Shannahan. Our debates got so fierce that I once told him that I wished death upon him from scurvy in the vagina. He ran off and didn't speak to me for 5 weeks.
Then one day I came across General Chaos and realized the Genesis can make amazing games. I wish General Chaos came out a little sooner so I didn't have to tell Mike Shannahan those harsh words of infectious scurvy.
