"Why did I watch that?"

Ever watch a movie not relizing the can of insomnia you just unleashed? Ever wonder "What the hell was I thinking?" Yeah...me too. Heres my top ten "Why did I watch that?" list.

-=Possible Spoilers=-

10. Close Encounters of The Third Kind

I went into this movie under the impresion it would have no effect on me. Oh how horribly wrong I was. This movie scared the living crap out of me. Everything from that crappy musical spaceship to those plaster aliens. I lost atleast a good two nights sleep over this. Thanks Spielberg!

9. Friday the 13th

Ho-ly Crap. I don't know why I was so scared with this movie this first time around when I look back now, but my god, I can't even count how many times I avoided going into my basement in fear of a machette weilding hockey mask wearing slasher. I lost three days sleep and atleast 3 hours of videogame time in fear of my basement.

8. Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

I used to watch this show constantly. Didn't have a problem with one thing. So one day my mom, unbeknownst to her, brings home Are You Afraid of The Dark? The VHS. So I pop in the tape, eyes wide and glued to the t.v and then...it happened. Its dark and stormy on the casette. You are looking first person through the eyes of some very short thing, you are unaware what it is. The thing makes it's way inside. The house itself is creepy. You then see a little girl standing in the hallway staring blankly at the thing. Then it switches to the girls point of view and relise the creature that you have been stalking is just a big black dog...thank god, but then the dog says in a dark creepy voice "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" and then the girl screams and the promo ends...it was an ad for another AYAOTD VHS. I was Terrifed. Total Sleep Loss: About three days including avoiding my dog at any time past 7:00 at night.

7. E.T

This little fucker is what spanwed my fear, still taggin along side me today, of aliens. I am deeply afraid of aliens and this little peice of scrodum didn't help. Everything about this shit stain scared me. So screw you E.T screw you and your lame ass game too. Total sleep loss: A week including a phobia of aliens.

6. Signs

Was it the lame story? The bland characters? The crazy drunk? No...it was the mexican birthday party. I was fine watching this movie untill our favorite baseball star Maryle finds out 'they' have recieved a new video of an alien. It starts off with some crazy little mexican kids running around yellin something. The only thing in english is "It's in the garage! It's in the garage!" The amature camera man then goes to a window looking at the garage...then BAM! An alien walks right across screen making me nearly shit my pants. I freaked out and almost walked out of the room...but in fear of being ridiculed I stayed and watched the rest. Total sleep loss: about a week while all and all adding some fuel to the alien fire.

5. Hannible

Why, oh why did I NEED to see a man eat his own brain after having it harvested by a phychotic mad man? Because that was some of the family friendly content you find in the movie hannbile of cource! This not only made me not want to eat dinner for a few weeks but made me paranoid when anyone came remotely close to my head with anything sharp. Lose any sleep? Nah, but did induce a mild short term paranoi.

4. An Underground August Mordum

"What the fuck did I just watch?" I believe these were the exact words that came out of my mouth after watching this film. This is the most morbid disgusting peice of tape I have watched in my entire life. This movie deeply, deeply scared me for life. It follows a few serial killers around on a video camera chornicling there killing, necrophelia and canniblism. Total Sleep Loss: two nights...but those images will never leave my head.

3.Dumplings

Those Japanese are freaking crazy. Anything for shock. This movie is so twisted in so many different aspects I can't even begin to think what sick bastard thought this would be a good thing to make into a movie. All I can tell you is it involved aborted fetus'. Enjoy. Total Sleep Loss: a night or two, but the whole concept of dumplings still makes me shiver.

2. The Mcpherson Abduction Tape

Just writing about this is proably going to make me lose some sleep. Anyways...here it goes. It was a saturday night...my older brother brings home a movie...not just any movie, it was THEE movie. He tells me it's real. Ignorantly I belive him. He pops the tape in and the hell begins. It's shot like the Blair witch and An August Underground Mordum in the fact that it is shot through a camera, the Mcpherson's camera. They are going camping up in the cottage...when some weird stuff starts happening. Throw in some horrible camera views bad lighting and panicked unchoherent voices...and you have a totaly belivalbe alien tape. I was piss scared. I slept in the same room as my brother for a week. This thing was horrifying for me to watch. They even have a number you can call if you have any information on the "Mcphersons". I later found out it was fake but it still remains one of the movies I regret watching.

1. The Blair Witch Project

Going into the movie...thinking it was real, I was scared, very, very scared. I couldn't watch half of it, and the parts I did watch were either small talk parts or just some drama about the map. For the scary parts I did watch I watched it through my fingers. I didn't go in my basement for a month and not only did I lose some sleep over this the first night I got home...I didn't sleep. Not meaning that I slept for like an hour. I mean I just did not sleep. I was awake for a day and a half and when I did go to sleep it was in the car driving home from my grandmas.

Theres my top ten daily...I plan on making a top ten every day. If I get crunched for time or I just generaly am not getting any feedback I'll stop but for now, expect another Top Ten Daily Tommorow.

Mordum is really freakin' sick, but in between the sick parts, everything is just boring. It's like a porn, and in between the action is just a lot of idle chatter. But instead of fast forwarding through the boring parts, you watch them because they're the lukewarm water you rinse your mouth out with in between the vomit torture rapings that make up the rest of the "film"

My roommate from a couple years ago told me about this movie and how he could only get through the first 20 minutes before putting it away forever. After spoiling the rest of it for him, I know he'll never let it out of it's hiding place.

Yeah...Mordum is pretty freakin' twisted at some parts. Only me and two other friends managed to sit through the entire movie. The other two stoped and went to go play xbox.

I cannot even begin to describe the disappointment I feel for ruining my childhood with this 10 ten...

From aged 9-13, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" was THE show to watch.

I mean, can anyone even think of a better catch phrase than this: "Submitted for the approval of the midnight society, I call this story... "

I rest my case.

I looove my sleep, so the only time I ever ALMOST lost sleep over a movie was The Shining. I was like 11 or 12 and used to sneak downstairs to watch USA Up All Night all the time. One night I started flipping channels and found The Shining. The movie started at like 3 AM, and my ohuse was dead silent except for the largely silent movie. And I was already tired cause it was 3. So being tired, young, and watching that thing at 3 am....yeah. Terrified. Made it to bed fine though.

Is she locked in a room in an abandoned house? And she writes on the walls? Or is that a different episode?

Right and she's deaf/mute and her grandmother is the maid that no one likes.

This was one of the most aired episodes if my memory serves correct. I kinda liked the Quicksilver story in terms of locked rooms and ghosts though.

I always hated Are You Afraid of The Dark. I equate it with Doug, in that I would only watch it when nothing else was on.

BUT there was that one episode that scared the piss out of me. What I remember about it is pretty sketchy, but it had something to do with a brother and sister who had kind of psychic powers and got sent away to a "special" school. Turned out in the end, the school was run by aliens that wanted to take the kids away. I'll never forget the scene in the very end where the brother is being lifted up to the top of the building on a rising platform, and those three-fingered hands are all reaching down for him.

Doug does not suck.

It's just the 1996-99 Disney episodes that sucked.

But somehow, I still watched it. ^^
