SEGA Europe revealed Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, an apparent Mario Kart-like racer featuring some of the company’s most popular characters.

The game is currently scheduled to release in early 2010 for multiple platforms, Wii and DS included.

According to SEGA Europe, only Sonic, Dr. Eggman, Tails, Rose and Samba de Amigo’s AiAi and Amigo have been confirmed as playable.

Like Mario Kart, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing features weapons and power-ups players can use to thwart the competition, and each character also has a unique special move. Like Diddy Kong Racing, the game includes multiple vehicles, including planes and bikes.

Despite the obvious similarities to Nintendo’s pioneering mascot racers, however, SEGA insists the game is a unique product.

I don't care if the game is derivative of Mario Kart, so long as it's derivative of Mario Kart 64 or Mario Kart DS. Hell, even a rip-off of Double Dash wouldn't be so bad. But Mario Kart Wii sucked!

I don't see why we don't just have sega vs nintendo racing. It would be much better than Olympics

They should have TRIFORCE racing, featuring characters from Sega, Nintendo, and Namco.

I'd rather Nintendo vs. SEGA vs. Capcom in a MvC environment.
