I have gone through a regular DS and 2 DS Lites. I intentionally got rid of my regular DS in favor of a DS Lite back when the DS Lite came out in Japan. I imported through Lik-Sang. That blue piece of awesomeness was great. . .until the bottom screen malfunctioned. I called, and they said that it was due to the screen drivers failing, and even if my system had been bought in the US, it wouldn't have been covered by warranty. No biggie, I just must have dropped it somewhere. So, $80 lighter, and I have a remanufactured white Nintendo DS Lite.

Fast forward from last July to now: virtually the same symptoms that the bottom screen of my old DS Lite had occuring then are happening to the top screen of my current one. This one's under warranty, so I call Nintendo and get some guy who said that he could have a new system express shipped for free, and I would have to use a prepaid shipping envelope to send the old one back out, but he would have to get my credit card number to avoid fraud. I said I would have to think about it, and I hung up. Well, I thought about it, so I called and got a different representative. She told me basically what I was told with my old DS Lite, and that it would cost $50 to repair the thing. I told her about the other guy, and she basically told me that he was lying and I would have to pay to get it fixed. I told her that the system has in no way recieved any kind of shock or damage, but she still insisted that it had.

I don't have the cash to get this thing repaired, so screw it. I'll just save and get a new black one later. I like those better than the white DS's, anyway. My point is that this time, it's not my fucking fault. I made sure that that thing got taken care of better than most infant children, and it still broke. I don't get what keeps happening. Mine break even though I treat them right, and my friend has one that he basically treats like shit, and yet it still functions. So, either the outlet that I usually charge the thing in gets power surges, or God hates me. In short, this is pissing me off to no end, and on top of everything else, now I won't be able to play Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin or Final Fantasy 3 until I get up the scratch to buy a new DS Lite. And that thing will probably break for no reason, too, with my luck. I hate this!

Hey, I got a PSP that works great, other than that it serves no useful purpose. So, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Maybe you should've stuck with the regular DS. Mine DS HAS sustained some shock and still works fantastically.

Yeah, I drop mine all the time and it works fine. And I bought it used to begin with. I'm not too keen on the Lite, sure it's smaller but GBA cartridges protrude so...

I shouldn't have imported the thing anyway. My current DS Lite is just the repaired innards of the old one in a new casing, so it was bound to happen. I'll just get a completely new DS Lite.

OMG! You can't criticize Nintendo on the SydLexia.com forums! Why hasn't this been moderated?

Because Sony just bought me two new cars, the Playmate of the year, a 7.1 entertainment system, and an indoor pool.

Nintendo just sent me a T-Shirt.

Hate away at Nintendo, guys! Twisted Evil
