E.V.O. is kind of pushing the definition of an RPG in my opinion. That was more of an action game with choices.

The PC is out by default, since EVERYTHING short of Wii, X360, and PS3 games can be played on it. Not too mention PCs have RPGs dating back to the late 70s. There are litterally thousands.

Yeah, PC pretty much has a "Game Genie" on its lexicon. PSX2, my last owned console, is still not up to par emulator-wise yet, also.

Well, it's getting there. PCSX2 can now run 1120 PS2 games.

Genesis for me, as that was the only place to play Phantasy Star II for a good number of years.

So far, I'd say 360. It's got a mix of strategy RPG's, JRPG's, and WRPG's in different settings and with different play styles. I still have respect for the quality of the SNES RPGs, but there's not enough variation in the styles of each for me.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I continue to stand by the SNES, but that's a fair point, and one I hadn't considered. Still, I'll take the pure quality and beauty of the SNES RPGs over deeper variation.

And by deeper variation he means, fallout 3(crappy), Oblivion(even worse), and what, blue dragon? Feh and double feh.

I wish I could've afforded an SNES when I was younger, I can understand why it's so revered as a console however I never had the chance to enjoy it in it's hayday.

Earthbound and Super Mario RPG are good enough reasons for me to vote SNES.

It's never too late to play a SNES. Wink

I know this is probably going to make people hate me but I have to say it.

I never really found Chrono Trigger all that great. Back when I still had an SNES emulator I had more fun playing Seinken Denitsu 3 and the Breath of Fire series. Chrono Trigger seemed pretty basic to me. I know I'll never be able to truly appreciate it because I didn't have an SNES when it came out but I wasn't really impressed by it.

EDIT: This post was a bit off topic, my apologies.

What about:

Lost Odyssey
Mass Effect
Valkyria Chronicles
Eternal Sonata
Tales of Vesperia
Fable 2
Last Remnant
Infinite Undiscovery
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Final Fantasy XIII - Coming Soon

Exactly. Though I loved Fallout 3 and not afraid to admit it. I kind of like how Microsoft told itself "Uh yeah, can we have at least a 4:1 ratio of generic FPS to RPG ratio instead of 10:1?" And instead of just doing the Playstation thing where it's just developers releasing turn-based games with shitty anime styles, there's enough variation in art and play styles to get your fix anywhere.

Well stated, the original Xbox only had KotOR, but the 360 so far has a nice mass of WRPGs.

GBA, because the pokemon games are the only games to use Turn-Based Combat in a way that doesn't make me cringe.
