So I recently bought Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus for the Wii. It came with a "bonus disc" which turned out to be the game's soundtrack. And being as it's a Guilty Gear game, the soundtrack is fucking awesome.

And I began thinking, why don't MORE companies do this? A lot of game soundtracks get limited edition pressings in Japan and are sold commercially, but why not just give them to us for free as a preorder bonus? Or at the very least, put the tracks on iTunes. They all end on P2P networks anyway, even when people have to rip them directly from the game, so there's certainly a market.

They did the same for Silent Hill 3, which has a pretty good soundtrack. I was greatly annoyed Konami didn't do that sooner with SH2, which was all-around superior in terms of everything IMO (including music).

But yeah, I wish more companies did this as well. Capcom comes to mind, since they make great music for their games (Mega Man X and Resident Evil come to mind). I guess these companies expect to earn more money by separately selling the soundtracks, even though most people will just download them instead. Rolling Eyes

I didn't know they made GG for the Wii. Does it have Robo-Ky's theme?

I've seen a few games on the DS with the game's soundtrack included. It seems like it's catching on a little. Buying a Mega Man game with the soundtrack included would be beyond cool.

Persona 3 and 4 and Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne had bonus soundtrack CDs (in the US, that is... when they were released in the PAL region, only Persona 4 had the bonus disc), as do some of the Nippon Ichi strategy RPGs. Well, at least the PAL version of Phantom Brave does, I'm not entirely sure about the rest.

I think I'd like the soundtrack to 3, however I think I've had just about enough of the regular battle music (BABY BABY BABY BABY *unintelligible rap* be your buddy!).

I know what you mean... probably the biggest reason why I like the soundtrack in P4 better overall is the total lack of the marble-mouthed rapper guy.

I still like the horns and the general style of the music on three, does four use a different style of music?

Getting back on topic. The only two game soundtracks I've ever really wanted were the Ridge Racer soundtrack and the soundtrack for Wild Arms 2. Ironically the disc for the original Ridge Racer serves as the game's soundtrack, I had to import a copy of the WA 2 OST though.

P4's music is a bit more pop and rock oriented with a slight retro vibe to it (and the dungeon themes are something completely different), but for the most part the style is pretty similar to the Persona 3 soundtrack... although the horns are definitely less prominent this time.

I always wanted this as a kid, as cliche as it is, the music is so timeless and phenomenal.

They need to start releasing soundtracks as preorder bonuses or something.

(edit. Forgot to add, persona 4 new comes with soundtrack. I think its good, you can hear a few tunes on the youtube, but be warned that its about as incomprehensable as the previous games so people have false lyrics up there. )

Sounds good. If I ever manage to actually beat three I'll look into four. I always love the music that SMT incorporates into his games. I was a particular fan of the music on the first Devil Summoner.

I think Suikoden Tactics came with a soundtrack, but it wasn't really up to the snuff of Guilty Gear (few can come close...)

Atlus in general has been pretty good about this. Even SRT: OG Saga Endless Frontier came with one in the box.

The only thing it was missing was Koma's theme, besides that it's an awesome bonus for an already great game.

The fact that garudoh uploaded the soundtrack for Cybernator alone makes him a kick-ass person.

I also like TheOSTation because he's uploaded all of the soundtracks from the Mega Man X games, ALL OF THEM.
