What's Memorial Day about anyway? Something to honor soldiers or anything like that?

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

Probably.
I just use it as an excuse to go camping and lose myself in nature, which I just got back from last night. Today = recovery.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

That's one of my favorites, Kubo.
Memorial Day is to honor the soldiers who died in service of the country. Its a bit more somber than Veteran's Day, which is just to honor servicemen and women in general.

Its memorial day, please be respectful to our fallen. Take a moment of silence and meditate on the sacrifices that were necessary for our countries nobel virtues to triumph over the base natures of evil men.
Also, dedicate a hot dog or a beer. The souls of America appreciate barbeques.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo! |

Speaking of poppies... I can't walk by a veteran collecting for the VFW and *not* give him a dollar.
I actually had 8, but I lost one and gave one to my mom.

^ Good man, Syd. I'm the same way. VFW is a very solid organization; they do a lot of good.
